"So what's the plan?" Xavier asked rubbing my back as I sat next to him on the bench.
"I will train. I will fight. I will protect my people." I looked at him breathing harshly holding back tears.
"That's my Queen." He kissed my cheek as I smiled at him.
"This witch, whoever she is, I will find her." I sat up and looked Xavier dead in the eye. "She will kneel before me." I kissed his cheek and walked back to my quarters. I put on some comfortable clothing and I stalked to my father's room. His guards bowed at the sight at me. "Father, may I come in?" I called.
"Come in love." I walked in and kissed his cheek.
"Gather your best soldiers and let's train." I rested my hands on my hips. His face swelled with proud.
"Yes, my Queen." He bowed. I chuckled. He gathered all his men and we went into the garden. There five men and three women. They were all surrounded me as they took turns kicking my ass. I held my own but there was definitely room for improvement.
"Take a rest everyone, you all did well." My father panted, tired from all the back to back combat. I rested against the tree, panting trying to catch my breath.
"How was that father?" I slid down the trunk of the tree and rested my head on my knees.
"Impressive. But there is so much more to be done." He rubbed my back. "Come on there is something I want to show you." He pulled me up from the grown.
We went through the garden and into the castle. We engaged in small talk, chit-chatting about the kingdom. We stopped at a door that I've wondered what was behind all my childhood. My father put his hand on top of the sun-shaped center and it knicked his hand, blood circling till it took the form of wings and unlocked. My eyes popped wide open at the sight of that.
"How...?" I said mouth hung open.
"I'll explain once we're inside." He took my hand in led me into the most elegant beautiful room I've ever seen. Marble columns stood throughout the room as a huge statue of Icarus was in the center. Light shed through the huge Victorian windows as greenery grew up and down the walls. There were doors everywhere it seemed and I was just in love with how beautifully unique the aesthetics were.
"My child. I know you have learned in your studies the origin of Icarus." He sat on a bench against a wall. "What you don't know is. Our kingdom is built on his downfall. He loved the sun so much. He had to come closer to see her. The sun was so flattered and in awe that someone would melt for her, she instantly fell for him too." He smiled.
"They had not enough time together because Icarus wings started melting and fell to his death into the sea." He continued. "The sun was heartbroken and distraught. She gave a huge outcry and her tears of lava sparked a flame of great power." He got up. "When the tears hit the ocean the magnitude of its power exploded around Icarus and built our kingdom today." He lifted his hand above his head. "Icarus father, angry at the sun. Wept and yelled at her from below the clouds scared to get too close." I bit my lip and leaned closer to listen. "The sun was so hurt and remorseful to him that she promised that as long as she lived, his memory would live on. She showed him this place and he visited often."
The room was silent, each word that left his lips heard and magnified the place. "Daedalus came down here and made weapons from the suns power, and he left them here for its protection." I marveled at each detail of the room, my fathers' words coming to life in front of my very eyes. " One day a man had crossed Daedalus, stealing from his gold and other treasures." I turned my head in confusion. "Daedalus was angry. He retrieved the weapons from here, and tried to kill the man.'' My jaw dropped. "He was unsuccessful, and the man grabbed the sword from the ground and pointed it at Daedalus throat." I flinched imagining the scene.
"Daedalus laughed and my my, your'e eyes are glowing. The sword has found its host." I froze and waited for him to finish. "Daedalus made a deal with the man. That he would make him rich and a king if he guards Icaria with his whole life." I gulped. "The man agreed and brought his family as well." He crossed his foot. "That man was my great great great grandfather, the first king of Icaria." My heart swelled with pride. "Your mother and I will probably die when the witch comes." He sucked in a hard breath. " But you my daughter, you have to live. You shall wear the armor and bear the throne just as our ancestors did." He grabbed my face. " You will make me proud, this I know." He kissed my forehead. "I love you my sun." A tear rolled down my face.
"I love you too father." I sobbed against his chest.
"Now come. Let's try on this armor."
