10 years ago:
A simple child was laying down on a soft bed of grass, her eyes completely shut. She was a young girl with glowing features, probably around eight years old at the time. The warm sun hit against her pale face, although she didn't stir. A small gust of wind blew across the open field, sending her long brunette hair gently flowing across her motionless body. To a nearby watching boy, the whole event seemed rather suspicious.
Like any curious young fellow would do, he walked up to the strange girl. "Miss?" he asked quietly, not wanting to frighten her out of her sleep. The girl didn't move. He started to slightly panic, wondering if she was sickly or abandoned. "Miss, please..." he said, placing his hands on her shoulders and gently shaking her. As soon as his hand made contact, the girl bolted upright.
Frightened, the boy backed away slightly, big blue eyes wide and curious. "A-are you alright?" he asked, stumbling on his words. When the girl looked over at him, he appreciated how green the color of her eyes really were.
"Who are you?" she asked, her petite voice thick with sleep. "What am I doing here? It's like...I...can't remember a thing..." Struggling to stand up, but managing on her own, the satin red cloak that hung loosely around her frail body was so long it hit the ground even as she stood.
"My name? It's...Aaron..." he said, taking another step backward. Aaron wasn't sure if she was completely mental, or really needed help. His father always told him to stay away from strangers, but help those in need. The entire concept seemed contradictory. "I didn't do anything to you, really. I...just thought you needed help or something since you seem to be...confused..." The boy named Aaron frowned, tousling his dark black hair around with a thoughtful look on his boyish face. "What's your name?"
"I said I couldn't remember, Aaron." she said in a quiet voice, still frowning as she brushed off her clothes.
"Well...if you can't remember...can we make up a new one?" he asked, offering the strange girl a small smile. It wasn't a crime to be friendly, anyway, he was sure his father would understand. Slowly, the girl nodded in response. "Hm..." Aaron hummed, intently studying her face, and making her a bit uncomfortable. "Sarah? Mary? Jane? Or....how about...Red?"
The girl blinked in shock. "Red?" she repeated, glancing at her cloak and down at her bare feet. "That's just a color."
Aaron simply grinned back. "But it suits you, doesn't it?"
