"Mom i'm home" I yelled as I walked through the front door of our two bedroom trailer, that I have lived in for forever.

No response.

"Mom?" I yelled again thinking she didn't hear me.

Still no answer.

I decided to walk into the kitchen to get a glass of water and noticed a small note on the table that read..

Hey gone out for awhile

see you tomorrow

~Mom

To be honest, I don't even know why I thought she would be here in the first place, she is never home.  For as long as I could remember she was always going out and coming home late.  Every few weeks or so she would even introduce me to her new boyfriend.  We never spend anytime together and the longest conversation we had lasted five minutes and then turned into an argument.

Completely forgetting about my glass of water, I headed to my room and threw my school bag on the bed.  Having nothing better to do, I took out my homework assignments and began to work.

I am currently halfway through my junior year in high school.  My entire life I have done really well in school, earning nothing lower than an 'A'.  I don't want to ruin my chances of getting into Harvard.  One thing I know for sure is that I certainly did not get my brains from my mother.

After about two hours I had finally finished all of my homework and placed everything back into my bag.  Realizing that I was hungry I figured I should go and eat dinner.

In the kitchen I opened the refrigerator and saw that the only things in it were some eggs, an expired gallon of milk, and a half eaten apple.  Looks like I will be heading to the grocery store tomorrow after school.

I grabbed two eggs and a pan and set them on the counter so I could get a bowl.  Once I had my bowl I cracked the two eggs into it along with salt and pepper and began to whisk it.  Once it was whisked I started to cook it.

When I finished eating I glanced at the clock on the microwave which read 7:30.  For the next few hours I watched some T.V and read ahead in the book we are reading in English class.  At 10:30 I decided it was best to go ahead and get some sleep.

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

That was the annoying sound of my alarm telling me that it was time to get out of bed and get ready for school.

Tossing my covers off of me, I got up and walked to the bathroom to take a shower.  I turned on the water, undressed, and hopped into the shower.

Once I was finished, I turned off the water and grabbed a towel.  Wrapping the towel around me, I stepped out of the shower and went back to my room to choose my outfit today.  I decided on a gray crop top, maroon infinity scarf, black tights, and a pair of combat boots.(which I purchased for less than twenty dollars at a thrift store)  Then I walked back to the bathroom to get get dressed but when I got there I realized I had forgotten my skirt.  Running back to my room, I searched for my skirt, but couldn't find it, wait my mom might have borrowed it.  I headed to my moms room and open her closet to hunt for my skirt.  Finally I spotted it on a shelf, reaching up to pull it down I accidentally knocked a folder onto the floor.  Curious as to what it was I picked it up and opened it.  The first thing I see when I open is a picture of me when I was first born, along with my birth certificate, and a letter addressed a William Archibald in Manhattan.  Glancing back at the birth certificate I realized that the same name that the letter was addressed to was the same name listed as my father on my birth certificate.  I stood there in my moms closet shocked at what I was looking at.  I had asked about my father, but my mom always ignored my question.  Recently I have been thinking a lot about him, who he is, what he does, does he have a family, and does he even know I exist.
