HI, I just wanted to notify everyone that I have all rights to this story so don't go copying my ideas because that's just extremely uncool. Other than that please comment, vote and all that other fun stuff :) Thanks!
------------------------------------------
It was early October and the trees had just begun to paint the sky with beautifully eye catching colours. The wind kicked up the debris of crushed leaves as I made my way to school, the icy, autumn gusts of wind making my eyes water.
"Hey, Raine!" I heard someone shout in the distance.
"Wait up!", they called as their feet made awkward noises against the concrete.
That's when I realized that it had to be Mia. She was the worst at running in her high heels, they didn't help very much in the aspect of size. They only made her a head shorter than me.
"Hey," I greeted her.
"Hey," she said in between gasps.
"Running is so gross. I get all sweaty and sticky. It's absolutely horrifying!" she said in a dramatic tone as she tightened the hair tie that kept her chocolate hair into a side braid.
I rolled my eyes as we gradually made our way up the hill towards Mayson High School. I self consciously evened out my dirty blonde hair.
"You look fine," she reassured me.
"Look who's taking Ms. I-need-a-mirror-every-two-seconds!" I argue as we enter the school parking lot where the millions of students mill about.
"That's cause I have something to worry about," she tells me dramatically .
"What's that?" I ask, wanting to know why she insists on putting herself down.
"I have a pimple on my forehead," she whispers as she gestures to a barely visible spot on her forehead.
"Oh gosh Mia, I thought it was gonna be the size of a freakin mushroom! Relax, if I didn't notice, no one will," I assure her.
As we make our way onto the front lawn of the school, the quote on quote 'seniors territory', I can't help but study the millions of faces I've seen throughout the years. Some have removed their braces, dyed their hair, even changed their entire wardrobe. They're all trying to be someone they're not because to them high school is everything. I'm just cruising through, kind of like a pit stop in my life.
"Hello," a masculine voice calls out as two hands wrap themselves around my waist.
Mia gives me an almost unamused look which slyly turns into a sweet, innocent smile. I spin around to face Riley who bends down and playfully brushes his lips against my neck. The warmth of his lips electrifies my skin which sends a sudden chill down my spine. I tilt his face up and press my lips against his. The heat of his touch so soothing against my numbly cold body. His brown, smooth hair is tousled and his bright green eyes draw me in like charming snake eyes. Dangerous and adventurous yet somewhat comforting.
"Good morning," I say and I can hear the smile in my voice.
"How are you?" he asks.
"I'm good, just unhappy that I'm at school," I admit as I play with the hair at the nape of his neck.
The first bell rings as a warning to get to class so we all get up, grumbling, and make our way to the main entrance like a school of fish.
----------------------------------
I get to math class and slip into one of the smooth, plastic chairs.
"Good morning students!" my teacher great us in a song-like tune as she pulls back the dusty, green curtains.
