The video starts, and I instantly stop it. I'm too scared...but I have to.
I click play again. Taking deep breaths, I watch us each throw our pot brownies down. Those were strong pot brownies, too. Not for pansies.
Ferris started pulling flowers out of the ground and throwing them around like a child with confetti. I grabbed Marc's wrist and pulled him off screen. A split screen forms with one half showing Marc and me and the other showing Ferris, Rain, and Leo.
I stood there with Marc. Just stood there. Doing absolutely nothing. And I spoke too soon. I move closer to Marc.
I wouldn't dare.
Except, apparently, I would. I threw my arm around his neck and kissed him.
Crap.
A 3rd screen pops up, showing Leo walking towards us. Soon, Leo was standing in our screen. The 3rd screen disappears.
Leo looked at me. Out of nowhere, I threw Marc out of the way, and approached Leo. "Why are you always getting in the way, Leo?" I yelled.
He glares at me. "Why would you do this to Ferris?"
"It's really none of your business, so why don't you just go die!"
The last word I said hits me like a kick in the gut. A damn painful one too. A tear falls out of my eye as I keep watching.
He looked at me with the most pained expression for the longest time. "Maybe. I. Will." He tasted every syllable thoroughly on his lips while he said these words.
A 3rd screen splits off again as he runs away. It shows him running with all his might, trying to get as far as he could. Until finally running into a street without looking. A big FedEx truck came by as he ran. The tears stream down my face. "No, Leo," I mutter.
The FedEx truck didn't see him and kept making forward progress. The driver finally saw Leo at the last second and slammed the breaks. The truck spun and the tail end crashed into Leo's spine, making a horrifying cracking noise. Leo's rag doll body flies about 10 feet in the air, before coming down with a smack.
I slam the laptop shut and quickly throw it aside then rub my eyeballs until they're about to fall off.
So it's true! It was really all. My. Fault.
I will never forgive myself.
I deserved to die more than him.
***********
I stare at my white desk, my finger hovering over the play button on my laptop.
Should I watch more? I have been contemplating the option for way too long.
My phone buzzes, interrupting my train of thought. "Hello, Mrs. Silver."
