I wake up next to Leo. He's still fast asleep, slight snores escaping him. I slip out of his arm's grasp and leave the room. But not before whispering, "Feel better soon!" to him.
He rolls a bit, as I tiptoe out, causing me to look back.
Still asleep...
I grab my bike and pedal home.
At least, that's what I wanted to do, but there to greet me in the cul-de-sac are Marc, Rain, and Ferris, all wearing worried expressions.
"Where were you?" Ferris runs over, wraps me in a bear hug and picks me up.
I laugh. "I was....visiting....Leo!" I say between giggles.
He puts me down abruptly. "Overnight?"
"Yeah, don't worry though. It was just 'cause he had woken up for the time being and I wanted to be there as long as possible."
"Oh, okay," Ferris says.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Rain asks.
I sigh. "'Cause I didn't know what was happening and I needed to rush down to check on him when his mom called me."
Marc nods at me, understanding my discomfort and not furthering it.
"You guys wanna smoke some?" Rain asks.
What?
"Yeah!" Ferris cheers.
"Sounds good!" Marc responds.
They start heading towards the woods, motioning for me to follow.
Was I the only one who learned anything? Do they not understand?
Apparently.
I follow after them, not sure of what to do. I mean, I can't smoke, but I can't go against all of them.
We arrive at the woods after a short walk, and without hesitation, head in.
Once we reach the spot dead center in the forest, we stop. This is our spot.
Ferris hands out the joints.
They all light theirs while I sit and pretend to light mine. So I end up fake smoking my fake-ly lighted joint, while I fake-ly start to get high. Once they've all had enough smokes, they're super high.
I watch closely, waiting for everything to unravel.
Ferris simply walks in a circle and then up to me. "Heeey, Wiiiiiillowww!" He drags out his words.
I wave back.
He puts his hands on my head and tugs at my hair.
I push him away. "No, no, no. None of that."
He claps his hands together, then looks baffled by the sound.
Rain and Marc play a really bad version of patty cake, that's almost sad to watch. They keep missing each other's hands and smacking each other in the face. I run over and stop it before they lose their eyeballs.
Once letting go of them, Rain goes to Ferris and...
Kisses him...
