Kayla's POV

7:01

I entered the room full of sweat and saw the whole class greeting our prof. Yikes!

"Miss Niña, I'm sorry for being late."

She used to be my teacher from high school but they transferred some teachers to the senior high department. And this teacher knows me too damn well.

"Miss Lorenzo, Welcome back still haven't changed your ways? Still late?"

My heart dropped when she handed me the yellow slip. Shit! That damn yellow slip! Detention for me and for sure this will reach mommy and god know she will scold me.  I sat down and reached for my phone and texted my best friend who sadly is on the other building since he is a college student.

---text---
"Best! Yellow slip once again."

Then he replied

"I woke you up so damn early and still you're late?"

I know I woke up early but I met someone new. Should I tell this to him? Well Patrick is my best friend so I guess I should.

"Best?" I asked.

"Yes best?"

"Do you know anyone named Jericho Tan?"

"From this school? No. Why do you ask? Did he do anything to you?"

I smiled as I remembered how protective my best friend can be. He can be the sweetest and the toughest at the same time.

"No. I just met him a while ago."

I told him everything that happened and after a while he didn't reply anymore. I guess he's busy.

After 2 and a half hours of lecture. Finally, that class was hella boring.

----Bell----

I was about to take a nap in the school lounge but I received a text.

From: MOM
You better eat since in your schedule you have an hour break. Take care of that card keep it in your wallet. I deposited 600 thousand for your shopping. I love you.

600 hundred is just coins for my parents. I don't get 1M per week unlike my sister "the prized gem". Now I just have to check in my wallet to check my car-- WTF!  It's not here! I looked for it everywhere in my bag, wallet, EVERYWHERE but it's not here. I have no cash for food and for going home. I can't just text mom that I lost it. She will never trust me with any amount of money anymore. I'll just ask for a ride from Patrick he is always there for me after all. I got too tired from looking for it I took my initial nap with an extra 2 hours since my next subject prof isn't around. I am so dead.

I woke up to an announcement from the school speaker system calling my name to head to the principal's office. I haven't done anything bad. This time I'm sure my mom will be pissed. I sprinted to the principal's office and was kind of confused seeing so many varsity basketball players. Including...

"Hey! Miss Kay. Nice to see you. How about lunch?"

"Sorry I'm busy and the principal is actually calling for me."

Then I saw one of the varsity players holding the microphone for the speaker system.

"That was actually me. One of my players is the son of the principal. The privileges you know?" And they all started laughing like it is how it is.

How were they not scolded or placed in detention like me? Is it because one of them is the son of the principal? That's so unfair. A lot of the funds go to the varsity and this is all they do? I know about the funds because I used to be Team Captain for Volleyball but now it's all in the past.

"Sooo...Miss Kayla? Lunch?"

"How about we head to the clinic because I can still see blood on your face!"

"Going to the clinic is for the weak. I can handle this. So lunch?"

"Weak? Then No thanks on the lunch offer. I can pay."

Yikes. I forgot that I lost my card. No lunch then. I suddenly wish that he would decline my offer.

"Okay fine. I'll go to the clinic if you have lunch with me. Don't worry I will pay Kayla. I'm the guy after all."

His answer was like music to my ears. We headed to the cafeteria and it isn't those cheap kinds. We ate a lot and even if we were busy eating I could see all the eyes staring at us. I started to realize that I was sitting at the varsity table.  An eye catcher to other people.

I notice he was staring at me and I hit him in the head.

"Quit staring at me I might melt."

Then the whole team started laughing

"Miss he's falling for you "
"Be very careful little girl"
"Don't be fooled with his charm miss"
"He is loving that's for sure miss"

Those are what I heard from his co-players which made my cheeks blush. I hope they didn't see it.

"You're blushing. Please stop you're making me speechless."

My eyes grew a little and made sure not to make eye contact.

After we ate I had to go to my last class which was just an attendance and then we are dismissed. I saw Jericho waiting outside the door and invited me to go to his training. I didn't know he was good and he is actually a shooting guard. I'm impressed truly. I couldn't really do much but clap.

After the training he brought me home. I told him to drop me off in the corner since I don't want anyone to see him around me. I'm going to be honest I have never been this happy in a long time.
