My name is cadet Lucy Brooke from squad 94, I have been assigned to the south west base in an unknown location.
I left my home a year ago when I was only 16 to join the fight against the mimics. Mimics are horrifying creatures, they are coated in sharp, deadly spikes and can range up to 20 metres when attacking. However, they are blind which is to our advantage but to them being great in size is there's.
It wasn't my choice to leave home, I was rescued when I was 15.
6th February 2002, was when my life began crumbling away like my home town when the mimics attacked.
My father was a commander at the time, my mum didn't work.
My mum home schooled me, it was fun being home with my mum.
I had a twin brother too, Daniel was like the best friend big brother kinda person, we were so close but now so far.
It was rare that our father was home, always so busy keeping up the fight. Our fathers name was commander Lewis Brooke. He was one of the bravest in his squad.
Later that day, early afternoon, our town was attacked by mimics that had come from the west side. They destroyed the bases that protected the west, that are now roaming of mimics and soaked of the blood of countless soldiers that lost their lives that day.
The streets of my home town were overwhelmed with mimics and broken parts of buildings, echoing cries of the children and families frightened for their lives.
My mum grabbed whatever she thought was Important and made an escape down the back alley with me and Daniel.
It was hard to see there was too much smoke from the fires burning the trees around us. We were scared for our lives.
A storm of mimics furiously charged for us so we ran and ran and ran but it was no use we began to get lost in the rubble and remains in which was an unrecognisable town. It did not take us long to become separated from mum luckily me and Daniel were still together we managed to hide next to a building which was half standing.
We heard mum cry in pain not to far away, mum was hurt, stabbed in the stomach by a unusual mimic it was a bit smaller than the others.
Daniel ran out to try and save her but he was too late mum was dead, I covered my mouth to withhold my scream of anger and sadness or I would be found by a mimic.
However Daniel could not contain his cry of pain for the death of our beloved mother. Many mimics heard him and raced in rapid fire like a rifle towards him.
I couldn't do a thing, I froze in terror of the sight I was about to witness.
Tears Began to run down my face like an unending stream.
My brother, my mum were dead their clothes covered in blood. Even Daniel was crying when he died. I couldn't imagine his pain or mums.
I silently had to move to somewhere less dangerous and hide.
It took 5 hours for help to come but was their any point now, there weren't many survivors.
It did not take long for a soldier to find me he carried me back to the truck where the remaining people who survived the attack were and drove away to an unknown destination while the other soldiers Fought off the last of the mimics.
The sunset that evening was a beautiful red.
And I hated it.
