Scene 1 - Act 5: Regret

Rowan's POV

After I told Cyrus about Polly yesterday he kinda seemed bummed out and I kinda feel bad. Maybe I should tell him I'm bi cause he is cute and I've always thought about telling him. Maybe he doesn't even like me?? But that doesn't really matter right now I have to meet up with Polly at the "Dream Bean Cafe" its like this galaxy themed coffee shop and its like the only one in town. When I get there I sat at the table she was already sitting at with her beautiful light pink hair in a pony tail. God she's adorable wearing her hair up and down, along with her cute sweaters she always wears. She turns to me with her beautiful gold coloured eyes.

"S-sorry I'm late I've been out of it today" I say nervously.

"Its fine, I got here a few minutes ago myself" she says with the cutest smile ever, kinda like Cyrus's...

A barista comes over to ask us to order our drinks, I order a galaxy smoothie and Polly orders a galaxy lemonade thing. This place has quite the assortment of galaxy products. The walls are space themed and there's planets hanging from the ceiling along with a few paper starts with dark hard wood floors. Polly and I chat about video games and skate boards while we wait for our drinks. When they do get here I take a sip and holy shit its the best thing ever! No wonder everyone goes here not just because its the only coffee place. I look around the place and notice that a boy with a chartreuse hoodie walks in. Cyrus Vale the most awkward kid in school.

"Who's that?" I hear Polly say.

"Oh uh just a friend of mine"

"We should go talk to him then" she says while she gets up and grabs my hand to drag me over to Cyrus. He seems more awkward and aloof than usual.

"Hey!" Polly says while tapping his shoulder.

"O-Oh hi?" he says questionably I feel really bad for him.

"Cyrus this is Polly" I say rubbing the back of my neck uncomfortably. He orders his coffee with lots of sugar and a bit of creamer then we all sit back at our table. While Polly and Cyrus chat I noticed Cyrus's cheeks and eyes they seemed a bit red like he was crying or something. Shit now I really feel bad I'm not even entirely sure what I did but I feel bad.

"Well um I have to go now I'll see you guys l-later.." He says nervously as always.

"Okay Cy text me if you need anything okay?" I say as he walks out. I really hope he's okay I dont like seeing him sad or depressed. Maybe I can fix things.

"He was really nice" Polly says with a big smile on her face "How did you guys meet? You guys seem like really close friends"

"We met when he moved here three years ago, god he was so dorky" I say while laughing a bit.

"Well I'd love to get to know him more, he seems interesting and closed off from the rest of the world maybe we could become good friends"

"Hm that sounds nice, Hey! Maybe you could hang out with my friends at lunch sometimes we always sit together so you could get to know all of them!"

"Sure! That sounds super" She says then her phone buzzes "Crap I have to go I'll text you later alright?"

"Alright see ya" I say while waving bye. I grab my drink, pay for Polly's and mine then head out of the cafe. While walking home my mind starts wandering. Did I make things worse with Cyrus? I hope not he's my best friend things should be fine. When I get home its quiet as usual, my parents are never home unless its for in between trips other than that they are out on business trips all the time. I'm home alone all the time and it gets pretty boring. Sometimes my "fairly distant cousin" as my parents puts it Jared comes over to make sure I haven't starved myself to death or burned down the house. He always asks me if I want to move in with him since my parents are not fit to take care of me and since they are never home. I always denied his offer I cant leave Cyrus here alone I think Id make things worse for him. Plus I don't really want to move to a place where people get murdered and that far away from home. I lay on my couch and start blasting music. "I wonder what Cyrus is doing I hope he's okay" these thoughts go on for a while. Then I get a text from Natalie in a new group chat shes made.

N= Natalie R= Rowan O= Oliver C= Claire A= Ambrosia

N: Have you guys noticed somethings up with Cy?

O: No, not really he seems aloof as normal.

R: Kinda, his eyes and his cheeks were a bit red when I saw him at my date with Polly, she ended up inviting him over.

C: Jeez. Thats rough

A: He was crying last night...I dont know what about he seemed fine at dinner.

R: Shit maybe I did something wrong!! I did visit him last night.

O: He should really get a girlfriend or something he's too closed off from the world

C: oOoOo~ I know a few girls he'd probably be interested in!

A: An older sister doesnt need to see this so ill be off now.

N: Maybe one of Polly's friends?

O: Nah her friends are too quirky for him

R: Eh maybe.

N: Guys what if he's gay?

R: then id have no clue

O: ditto

C: hm ill work with this well i gtg cya guys on monday!

N: night

R: cya

O: bye

After this I actually started thinking about what if Cyrus is gay. Its a possibility maybe I'll ask him when I see him again. After a few thoughts go through my head about how I messed up somehow I fall asleep with regret on my couch
