When I had reached the entrance to the forest, the sky was a brilliant blue. Behind me the rock-ridden road stretched far, cutting fields and rivers. I felt exhausted; I'd endured the weight of a Julian sun during peak hours. I was defeated mentally too. The past few weeks had been a syringe that injected in me the venom of trouble but, I had felt the forest calling to me, whispers riding the wind of the trees. The birds too danced freely in the sky, almost celebrating their freedom, their ability to soar and plummet as they wish. Standing before the forest now I sense a unique warmth to the foliage. Even the leaves beneath my feet seemed to shake with life. As I made my way farther into the forest, I began to lose track of my troubles. I had visited the forest many times as a child and though I was familiar with the place, I did not know where I was going. I was chasing a faint hum, like a soothing flute or a lovely siren. I reached a clearing in the forest, a small patch of leaves and grass where a young woman sat alone. Here the leaves burned a bright orange and the roots of trees blood red. Her hair was the color of a Phoenix and her warmth invited me closer to her. I sat in front of her, my short hair blowing west as I wondered who this person might be. I could feel in my heart that I was meeting someone who, for a long time, I've longed for.
