First-day nerves

As everyone filed into the halls Fletcher looked around. Maddison walked over to him Kelsey following behind "Hey so you're the new kid"

Fletcher nodded smiling awkwardly "Yeah"

"I'm Maddison and that's Kelsey" she gestured to behind her and Kelsey waved slightly

"Pleasure," Fletcher said half sarcastically

Maddison looked a little taken aback at this remark "So photography first right?" Fletcher nodded

Kelsey tapped her on the shoulder "I'll see you later yeh" and she walked off with some other classmates towards her first period.

"So do you do a lot of photography?" She asked him as they set off down the hallway being bustled around by others

He shrugged "A little bit. I haven't really done much of it yet"

Maddy looked confused "What do you mean have you not been doing it for like at least 2 years. Where did you transfer from"

"Hillcrest" Fletcher answered quickly completely blanking the first part of the question as they turned into the classroom

Maddison looked confused again but took her seat at the front Fletcher slotting himself next to her

After photography, they had English and then maths. As the bell rang for lunch Fletcher walked outside looking around for somewhere to sit he found a nice shady tree and slotted himself in-between the trunk and closed his eyes thinking to himself. A moment later is peace was interrupted as a football flew right into his chest at speed and he hunched over. Someone ran over to him "Sorry about that" Fletcher, however, could tell he wasn't sorry as the boy was grinning and his mates behind him were roaring with laughter.

Fletcher stood up "not to worry, may I," he asked as if he wanted to kick the ball

"Sure whatever" the boy responded looking back at his mates and shrugging. Fletcher dropped the ball and smacked it with his foot right at the boys face. It hit the boy and bounced away. The boy stumbled back a bit and his friends came forward to protect him. Within a minute Fletcher was being pinned up against the tree by the boy "You think this is funny?" he snarled getting right up close.

The boy was then suddenly on the floor before Fletcher realized it. Flynn had removed the boy's arm from fletchers shirt and Alex had pulled him off shoving him onto the floor "I found it funny" Flynn nodded "What about you Alex"

Alex grinned "Hilarious. Now get out of here Johnny and take your fucking cronies with you" Alex said suddenly stone-faced and pulled Johnny off the floor pushing him to his mates. They skulked away mumbling something. Flynn patted Fletcher down before sitting. Alex sat opposite the tree and Fletcher slid down to his original position. Miles wandered over holding some food bags and drinks tossing them to the boys including Fletcher

Fletcher looked at him "I've got lunch but thanks"

Miles shook his head "Trust me whatever you've got is nothing compared to that" the other two were already eating there what looked like chicken and bacon sandwiches and he sat between the other two.

Fletcher looked at them "And thanks for that"

Flynn shook his head "No problem. I mean what you did was pretty badass man. Johnny needed putting in his place" He looked at Fletcher "I'm Flynn, by the way, Flynn Green. That over there is Alex Stone and that's MIles Yunderson" They waved at him "And here comes the girls" Kelsey and Maddison walked over to them "What happened to Johnny he looked fucked up" Kelsey asked as they slotted in around the circle.

"The new kid happened," Alex said "And it was amazing" he turned to Fletcher "Party at mine tonight. Pass me your phone ill put my details in and send it to these idiots" Fletcher threw his phone over and Alex tipped some things in before handing it back.

The group started talking about other things until lunch ended and the rest of the day ended relatively quickly with Fletcher walking home next to Alex as he rode his bike

"See you later Fletch" Alex smiled as they left each other and Fletcher continued his walk home. As he turned onto his street someone came up behind him holding his arms behind his back as Johnny came into view in front of him

"Well well well if it isn't the new kid," Johnny said before punching him in the stomach and he doubled over but couldn't back off thanks to the person behind him. "You are nothing but a little pussy who only hides behind Green and Stone" he punched him in the face hard and he felt his nose start to bleed.

"Well what are you doing now" Fletcher spat "hiding behind your fucking bodyguards" Johnny punched him in the face again and he felt the blood form in his mouth

"well maybe next time well give you a fair fight," Johnny told him grinning and was passed a bat which he used to strike Fletchers body and he doubled over and fell to the ground groaning in pain. Johnny and his gang sprinted off leaving Fletchers crumpled up form curled into a ball blood on his face and some dripped on the pavement
