"326,000." Khadijah counted the last of the money by hand before inserting it into the money counter, "Me can't believe we made this much money in t'ree hours."
"Actually two and a half," Aubree smirked, "And I usually move quicker, but I'm trying to figure some things out."
"You know I know girl." Khadijah smiled, putting her half into her gym bag.
"You need me to bag you up yet sis?" Marco questioned Aubree as he watched the cameras while he puffed a blunt from his seat.
"In a minute bro," Aubree replied, double counting through her half, making sure the numbers were precise still partially lost in thought.
What was on Aubree's mind was how she was going to eliminate her competition and in which way would she do it without bringing harm or heat on herself. Ceeloz was his name. Although he wasn't a top seller in the 777, the weight of marijuana that he did move played a pivotal role in the city. He sold his weed for half the price as his competitors and he was always in stock. Although Aubree's arena was crack cocaine, she still had people around her who were damned near addicted to marijuana, and if it was one thing Aubree was serious about, it was her coin. Dre supplied both areas, and even sold a little heroin, but since Dre was locked up Aubree wanted to tie all lose ends and keep money in her pocket. She had plans in mind.
"I'm so tired." Aubree said to Dre as she looked at Dre from the opposite side of the glass.
"It's been 2 years, and 8 months now Aub..."Dre started, "In here...Shit feels like 8 years."
As Dre starred in Aubree's eyes she could sense his pain but could never imagine what he was dealing with. All she could do was remind herself of her dad, and those weekend visits to Angola with her aunt, uncle, and Marco. It was the same look he would have watching them walk away from him. Next thing she knew was hearing news about im dying in his prison cell on Christmas and over hearing her uncle rant about how his death was never looked into. All Aubree knew was she hated the system and to her, it was legal slavery.
"So," Dre continued, "Who's been doing what? How's the family?"
"The family is well. Everyone's doing well. Youngin' just graduated."
"Youngin," Dre smiled, "My man... I always knew that li'l nigga would make me proud. Do me a favor. Give him a graduation gift for me."
"I already did Pa." Aubree replied, making reference to one of Dre's loyal workers who he raised from the streets and put on in the game. He had recently graduated from cocaine to heroin, and was consistently keeping their pockets straight because he was putting in work.
