Im Yoona stood in front of the Baru vegan restaurant of Seoul, holding her résumé in her shaky hands. The fact that a shikshin like herself would even consider the idea of working in such a place seemed unimaginable, but it was necessary. She had visited every work place she could think of, and none of them were hiring, but this one. Yoona felt her stomach churning as she watched from the outside how this serious-looking people ate leaves; yes, to Im Yoona, a salad only meant leaves and more leaves that strangely tasted like soap. Sighing and shaking her head, Yoona finally decided to make her way in.
She gulped a little as she spotted the counter and the employees, all wearing the same suit and attending tables. Mustering confidence, she made her way to the counter and prayed she could get the job. The boy in the counter was smiling and humming slightly, Yoona noted. Also, as she examined him, she noticed he looked like the youngest out of all the other employees at Baru.
“Um… Anyeonghaeseyo?” She greeted nervously. The boy looked up from the cash register and as he met Yoona’s eyes, the doe-eyed girl felt the urge to pinch his cheeks because of how childish he looked.
“Anyeonghaeseyo, how may I help you?” He asked cheerfully, giving Yoona a wide smile. In his few words, Yoona could notice he had an accent.
“My name is Im Yoona and I’m here for a job interview.” Yoona explained, holding out her résumé for him to see. The boy furrowed his brows as he looked at the sheet of paper and then at Yoona again.
“Interview? I’m sorry, our boss doesn’t do interviews. You just have to leave your résumé here and he’ll look at it. You’ll get a response within a few days.” He explained, feeling slightly bad at the look of distraught that settled on Yoona’s stunning features.
“What?” The doe-eyed girl barely pushed the monosyllable word past her lips that were starting to curve into a frown. “I-I don’t know if I can wait a few days…” Yoona added, feeling her chest tighten slightly due to tension. “I-If I even got the job, I’d have to ask for an advancement of my first payment right away…”
“He won’t take long, you’ll see.” He attempted to cheer her up, but failed miserably as she only shook her head and looked down. The boy sighed and unconsciously cracked his knuckles. “Tell you what, I think there’s something I can do.” It took a nanosecond for Yoona to look up at him in utter surprise and relief. She looked so hopeful that the boy fought the urge to chuckle at her expression.
“Jinjja? What is it?” She asked, piercing the boy in front of her with her doe-like eyes.
“Wait a second…” He looked around the restaurant for a few seconds before whistling at one of his co-workers; it was a short girl with short blonde hair and kind eyes that immediately made her way to the counter.
“Wow, Luhan, looks like you got yourself a pretty noona.” The girl greeted, poking Luhan’s arm. The boy could only blush and subtly glare at her, already second-guessing his idea of helping Yoona out like this.
“How do you even know she’s older than me?” Luhan crossed his arms and furrowed his brow.
“Have you seen yourself in a mirror?” The girl joked, earning a harder glare from Luhan. The boy sighed and his blush deepened. Yoona couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at the scene in front of her, but still felt awkward around the two.
