Beep-Beep Beep-Beep Beep-Beep

Atem groaned softly as his wrist watch sounded off. He opened his eyes, only to shut them again as they were met with the bright warm rays of the sun.

After adjusting to his surroundings, he looked at the time. 3:00. School was over in 5 minutes. He looked down and smiled softly at a certain teen that still lay in his arms.

He nudged the younger one. "Yugi." He said gently, making the boy stir but continue sleeping. He chuckled and tried again. Then again for arm third time before Yugi's bright amethyst eyes slowly opened.

"Afternoon, sleepy." Atem grinned. Yugi's small hands gently rubbed his eyes as he began adjusting to the brightness the sun continued producing.

"W-What time is it?" He said ever so softly. Atem checked again. "3:00. We should get ready to go." Yugi nodded and noticed that he still lay in Atem's arms, making him blush slightly. They both made their way from the roof and to their lockers, grabbing their bags and headed for the front doors.

The bell sounded by the time they reached the doors, hearing students chattering and laughing amongst themselves in the distance. Before they did anything, Yugi turned and bowed.

"I-I'm sorry I made you miss class today. And on your first day here, Atem." The darker skinned boy laughed softly and waved his hand in a dismissive manner. "No, don't worry about it, Yugi. Really. Besides, you are more important to me than a couple of boring classes." Yugi smiled slightly.

Atem walked up and took his hand as they began walking off. "A-Atem?" Yugi asked, surprised by the other's actions. Atem turned around. "What? I'm walking you home, silly." Yugi looked at the ground, trying to process what was happening. The other smiled at the boy as they neared a crosswalk.

The walk to Yugi's house was filled with conversation and funny jokes. Yugi never knew that this boy from Egypt had such a funny sense of humor. It made him feel.... happy. As in, genuinely happy; something that he hadn't felt in years.

Yugi took a brief moment of silence to examine his street and eventually spotting his house. "T-That's my house." Atem looked up. "Wow! Yo u have such a beautiful house, Yugi. Wish I had a place like this."

Yugi looked confused

Yugi looked confused. "Don't you have a house to stay in right now?" Atem shook his head before turning and pointing towards the city.

"See that building? The one with the "KC" logo on it?" He did. That was KaibaCorp. The company who designed the Duel Disk. But what does that building have to do with Atem? "I live there. Or...more like renting it out." Yugi mouth fell a bit. "B-But how do you live there? I thought it was was a company, not an apartment building?"

Atem smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "I thought so too. But they have a couple of rooms there. Mainly for staff, but my father is visiting on business and since he doesn't want me at home by myself, I stay in the rooms there while my father talks with the CEO."

Yugi couldn't believe it! Atem, the already popular exchange student lives in the same building as the most richest CEO in Domino! Atem chuckled at seeing a spaced out Yugi. "Yugi?" He said, waving a hand in front of the little one's face.

Yugi snapped from his thoughts. "Hai?" Atem smiled, making Yugi smile back as well.

The front door soon opened. "Yugi!" His mother called, -rushing down the stairs to hug her son. "Mo-om!" Yugi said, feeling embarassed. Atem laughed to himself, his face faltering a bit.

Yugi took notice of this, but said nothing. "Oh! Um... Atem, this is my mother. Mom, this is Atem. He's an exchange student from Egypt." Yugi watched his mother greet Atem, shaking his hand and bowing. Atem bowed after her. "It's so nice to see that my son has made a new friend." She said, turning to Yugi.

"Please," Atem responded. "The honor is mine." Yugi's mother gasped slightly. "Yugi! Your uniform is all dirty! What happened?!" Yugi scratched his head nervously. "I-I, uhm...," Atem sensed Yugi's distress and quickly chimed in. "I accidentally spilled some of my lunch on him today. You see, today was my first day here and I was oblivious to where I was going."

Yugi's mother nodded, understanding. "Well, let's go clean you up, sweetie." She turned to Atem, bowing. "Please excuse me." Atem reached and gently took her arm. "Please, Mrs. Mutou. Let me wash it for you. It's the least I could do since I stained it." She was hesitant but the boy insisted and was able to take the uniform home with him to wash later that night.

As he sat in his room later that night, Atem's cousin stopped in. "How was your first day at Domino High, cousin?" Atem sighed. "It was alright." Seto rolled his eyes. "That bruise on your knuckle says otherwise." He made his way to Atem's desk and sat down, with the chair facing the other boy, who lay sprawled on his bed.

"Atem, it took a lot of convincing to get your father to let you stay here. And even more to get you into this school. I don't want to hear that you've caused trouble on your first day." Atem nodded. "I understand. I'll try not to make another scene." Seto ruffled the tri-colored teen's hair. "Good. Now, get some sleep. You have school tomorrow." He turned off the light as Atem crawled underneath the covers, dozing off into a good night's sleep.
