Chapter 19

Chapter nineteen

The students filed noisily into the four coaster buses parked outside the school. It was the midterm break and they all put on their best behavior so they wouldn't be left behind.

The bus drivers roared the engines and the buses left the school. The students were grouped according to their classes. Jss1 and 2 in the first bus, Jss3 and SS1 in the second bus and the Ss2's and 3's together in the last bus. SS1 students complained for one hour on why they hate being placed with the junior school students. The fourth bus was used to convey the principal and other teachers that came as chaperons and to carry the bags.

The ss2 students sat at the front while the seniors dominated the back seats. Layo, kunmi, Tolu and Stephanie made the last seat because they were the first to enter the bus.

The students took advantage of the fact that there were no teachers around and everybody became a duo. David was wrapped up with Tito and they were making noises at the back seat. The girls still hadn't noticed that they were sitting with David; he had his face buried in Tito the whole time.

The buses got to Sango ota and after some intense make out session, they stopped eating each other's faces and she moved back to her seat.

"So which one of you pretty damsels wants a piece of Davey?" the girls were lost in their chatter and as soon as Stephanie looked up, she started trembling like a spineless fish. Her pretty face went pale immediately and she had a terrified look on her face.

"Excuse me, can I move to the front seat and stay with you?" Stephanie asked a boy sitting at the second row. As soon as he nodded for confirmation, she stood up and moved to the next row.

Layo noticed the change in her friends face and tolu did as well but kunmi, she was oblivious to the whole situation as continued typing on her phone after rolling her eyes. "Erm kunmi shift abeg let me sit next to the senior."

"Oh so you want to start doing boys now?" she said with a laugh as she exchanged places with Layo.

"Abeg shut up jare."

David smiled as soon as his saw Layo sitting next to him as if he were a hunter that had a nice deer right in front of him. "So the baby decided to come to daddy faster than I expected." He raised his hand and she slapped it away.

"Listen to me you idiot, I don't know what you did but I want you talking and fast." She looked at him in the eye, ignoring the stares from the curious students and of course, her curious friends.

"I don't know what you're talking about hunny." He said with a mischievous look in his eyes. He looked at Stephanie and she quickly averted her eyes.

"Shut up and tell me what you did to my friend dumbass." She wasn't a feisty or confrontational one but the look in her eyes showed that she was determined to defend her friend and get what she wants.

"Don't forget that I am still your senior." He said in a warning tone. She hissed and took a quick look and Stephanie to make sure she was fine; she was looking at nothing in particular through the window as the cold breeze that people only seemed to feel when they were travelling blew her long hair backwards.

The curious students quickly lost interest and continued their bus activities. The ss2 students were elated to be hanging out with the seniors and they quickly started a game of truth and dare. When school students are alone, they really take pride for some reason in a game that allowed them touch each other.

"Yes, seniors are supposed to mentor the young ones right but you, when Stephanie sees you, she turns whiter than a ghost, I saw her running outside the toilet and I saw you too." She moved closer and gave him a smile. "tell me right now what you did to my friend or ill drop from this bus right now and tell the principal what I saw, senior."

"Okay then honey, did your saintly hoe of a friend tell you how she spread her legs faster than the red sea for me ehn?" She raised her hands to slap him but this time it was his turn to slap her hand away.

"Try anything stupid and then I will be the one to talk and let's just see how well I can make things spin around in my favor." His dimples bobbed left and right as his cheek moved and she realized how handsome he was. Their hands were still touching and it gave her a good feeling on the inside.

"Em...em forget it dear senior." She said as she moved back to her seat. Her thoughts travelled to Mexico, to the United States, Australia and back to Nigeria. Why would Stephanie sleep with this guy? Was she a hoe just like Elizabeth too? She felt disgusted by her, she actually did it, and she wasn't a virgin anymore.

As soon as she moved closer to the girls, they started bombarding her with questions especially Kunmi that was in total darkness. "So what did he say? What did he do?" Tolu started as soon as she got close to them.

"He...they...her, both of them." She was shaking and couldn't quite place the information she was just told. How could Stephanie, the Stephanie sleep with the same boy they caught Elizabeth with. Why would she even sleep with anybody when she never even dated before?

"Abeg I'm lost mehn, somebody tell me what's going on." Kunmi chirped in. she dropped her cell phone on her laps and placed her attention on Layo. "Baby girl breathe and just tell us what the ups is." She asked impatiently.

Layo got her emotions together and she finally opened her mouth to speak. "Seems that our dear friend Stephanie probably smoked weed and slept with hot shot over there." She pointed her head in his direction and kunmi gasped.

"Jesus Christ!" Tolu yelled. Typical Tolu to inject a sermon into everything. The girls don't have anything against church and preaching or anything but she usually went haywire when it comes to things like that and it could really get annoying.

"I know he's hot but sleeping with him was far too much," Kunmi said. She wasn't like Tolu or Layo, she has dated about two or three times during the holidays but she knew her limit that's for sure. "How are you even sure he's telling the truth," she continued. "We all know Stephanie na."

As she girls deliberated on the issue, layo's phone vibrated. She put in her password and checked her whatsapp and behold, it was a picture of Stephanie's nudes with the caption. 'Better keep your mouth shut.'

How did he even get her number?
