(Juan Vargas' AKA Claudias dad P.O.V.)

So you see I grew up in a small town with few opportunities. I hated school and never really tried. My family was poor but I guess it worked out I lived with my two younger brothers, younger sister, and my two older sisters.

We lived in a small house with our mother. She wasn't the worst mother because she tried her best. But it got hard. At times we barely had anything to eat and we would get the occasional meat at a meal. Our Christmas presents if we even got any were small and cheap but appreciated. The best present I got for Christmas was a small toy car.

Our family didn't have much but it was all we knew.

I had to work for any money by lawn mowing, picking cotton in the fields,  whatever I could do to earn it.

My father left us when I was my son, Josef current age, 9. My older sister who always cared and took care of us when our mother left us alone while she partied died when i was 12 .

I have vowed not to let my kids know everything about my past, some of the things that happened would kill me if they ever happened to them. There were many bad things about our childhood but also many good things. They vary over helping family in school fights, pretending to be superheroes with my best friend. Dancing on a table while my mom threw stuff at me and some also very terrifying moments.

I'm telling you this because my childhood wasn't the greatest. It has left me with horrible scars and many problems. My daughter I realize has been getting herself in the same trouble...we no longer connect like we used to but maybe I can help her. Maybe I can stop her from making the same mistakes...just maybe. In order to do that though, I'll need our tight bond back again.

I need to regain her love and trust.

It was about half an hour before I had to leave for work. Oh, what a joy. I looked at Claudia as she sat on the arm of my couch behind my wife. Her short, dirty blond hair let down.

Her eyes were filled with love as she looked down at my wife. It continued as her gaze crossed Josef, the youngest because I knew they were close. Then her eyes grazed Alex and by that time her love for them was as plain as a red dot on a sheet of black paper.

Finally her gaze stopped on me her brownish green eyes went cold with fear, hate, and not a drop of trust. Then they fell back to her book. How could she be so loving to them but when it came to me, she acted like I had just murdered someone she cared about.
