The day started out normal... at least thinking back on it I believe it was mostly normal.
I had just left my cabin, out of the comfortable darknezs and into the sunlit grounds of Camp Half-Blood. I was up way earlier than normal. Which was something i rarely did. Granted, it was only 10am which isn't very early. Especially to the Apollo kids who were already up and out. Everything was totally fine.
I felt like i started to find a quiet peacefulness at Camp. Things were finally going my way. I had friends, the best sister I could ask for (even if she was at Camp Jupiter most the time), and the greatest boyfriend I could ever find.
Will Solace. Son of Apollo. Head counselor. Aspiring doctor. My loving boyfriend.Alright, even if I want to deny it I can't neglect that things had been strange lately. Chiron didn't talk to me, he always found excuses to get away from me or if I somehow corner him he would seem... awkward and uncomfortable. No idea what that was that about. Also, I hadn't been able to talk to the Roman camp. It was just the start of summer so they were most likely busy doing Roman stuff so I had brushed it off then.
Then there was Jason. He was flat out ignoring me and seemed to be in a bad mood all the tomd. Had I finally pushed hos limits? Had he gotten annoyed at me for some reason? I had pushed the thought out of my head and tried to pretend it was all normal.
I walked to the training arena where I saw two younger campers sparing. Well acrually, it looked like they had been sparing but were now arguing. Both around 10 to 11 years old. A girl with short blonde braids and a boy with light brown curls. They spotted me and waved me over urgently. I walked over to see them both glaring angrily at each other.
"What's up?" I asked, looking from one kid to the other.
"Jonas says that im not aloud to use two swords but he's only saying that because he's much better than me when I don't have both!" The blonde girl yelled, sounding very offended. Now that she pointed it out, i noticed the two semi-long swords she held in each hand.
"It's not fair that she gets to use two!" The boy, Jonas, exclaimed. "I only have one and she always beats me with two!" he argued.
"That's only because i'm better at fighting with two!" She retorted, and just liek that they started arguing back and forth. I took a moment to think.
"What if.... Since you're better with two, you try out two daggers and he uses one sword, than it will be more fair." I suggested. The two kids stopped and seemed to think about it. Their faces seemed to come to an identical expression of realization and understanding.
"Daggers are smaller but it's just like holding a sword...." The girl mumbled.
"I think that's fair. Marie?" Jonas asked.
"I think it's fair too! Let's go change them now!" She said, bouncing up and down on her heels excitedly. Jonas smiled and they turned to run. Marie glanced back and waved to me."Thank you, Nico!" She said, and Jonas turned as well to hollar a quick "You're the coolest!"
I smiled as they walked away. That was the best thing that has happened to me that day. I'm glad I remember it. Even now I have to admit, the younger kids at camp were much kinder than the older campers.
I had decided to go see Will. I usually saw him every morning. I was surprised that he hadn't seen him yet today and decide to check the Infirmary since he was usually there, if not there, the Apollo cabin was a likely place.
When I got to the Infirmary, it was quiet and almost empty except for Kayla, Will's Half sister.
"Hey Kayla, have you seen Will anywhere?" I asked. Kayla looked at me and seemed to have a guilty look in her eyes. What was that about?
