This story is very important to me as it's based on 2 people I know and love deeply. I was fortunate enough to witness their love story unfold. They have both given me consent to tell their story. They are both happy and well at the time that I am writing this (not a spoiler).

I've taken this story down a few times - the reason being is that it never really felt right and I wanted to properly tell the story without any exaggerations or lies. And I hope that finally I have done it justice. If I take it off again, I give anyone permission to slap me.

I have tried to recreate events, locales and conversations from my memories of them. Some memories in which there was only one of the individuals partaking were described to me and I have tried my hardest to captivate everything. In order to maintain their anonymity I have changed the surnames of individuals and places as to keep the real identities of the people involved. I may have changed some identifying characteristics and details such as physical properties, occupations and places of residence. Both main characters in the novel and the people they are based on have the name Sam.
