A long silence followed afterwards, and man was it awkward as hell...
I look over at the panther head which slept soundly. I was still waiting for Chiron's answer for a few minutes, but he still kept looking down.
Great...It's official; it's not a good prophecy.
"Is it really that bad Chiron?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
He finally looked up to me; he sighed and rubbed his hands nervously.
"Your cousin is able to use fire, correct?" He questioned cautiously.
I nodded my head and leaned back on the couch uneasily.
"What's it to you Chiron?" I asked, bothered.
"This could be the curse of flames.." I would hear Chiron mutter.
I felt a chill run down my spine as I heard the news, remembering something I clearly hated in the past. I'd look over at the bookshelf behind Chiron, examining the books that read titles.
Books.
A breath would hitch in my throat as my hands started to warm up. I looked at Chiron to find him not there, but only more bookshelves surrounded me. I'd look at the young, 9 year old girl in front of me that had appeared out of nowhere. The girl had black hair with a light-blue left eye and a dark blue right eye, running her fingers across the book labels. I watched as one of the books emitted a soft glow which caught the girl's attention, her hand reaching and pulling the book out.
I made an attempt to grab the book from her, shouting that she shouldn't touch it. I didn't hear my voice and a wall of some sort kept me away from her. I slammed a fist into the wall as I felt myself starting to tear up. I'd look at the girl as I heard her voice mumble the words; her eyes emitting a green mist as she whispered over and over.
"Fire, fire, fire by the power of three, give fire control to me. Fire show the light, don't let me see the night. Let me use my fire, the fire is my desire. Bring me my burning light, don't hurt my friends, don't hurt me. Start a flame within me." The girl said on her third try of reading it aloud.
I'd stare as the girl combusted in flames for a quick moment, watching the flames travel across the library in a flash. I'd watch as families panicked and ran out the building. I closed my eyes shut harshly, not wanting to see anymore of that event.
I opened my eyes.
Everything was back to normal, I was on a couch, so was Chiron in his wheelchair.
"The prophecy is this Notashino." Chiron would start.
"Four souls told to stand, saving a home that's inland. In a maze of horror where they loiter, striking before the third lunar chapter. The four take their stand, when the curse of flames comes again."
I'd look at Chiron, and shake my head.
"There's no way." I said, shifting my weight on the couch.
"I'm sorry Notashino, and you know you can't change a prophecy's fate." Chiron would respond.
I'd get up and sigh looking at Chiron.
"Thanks for the talk anyways...and..."
Chiron would raise an eyebrow at my mid-sentence.
"There haven't been any recent traitors...right?" I'd finish, looking at him.
Chiron would shake his head no as I sighed in relief, opening the door and walking outside.
I watched as the sun laid on the horizon and I smiled briefly.
"Maybe it won't be horrible" I'd start to walk to the campfire.
I'd stand there for a few moments before seeing Beige and Lin arriving. I'd quickly hug Lin only to see Beige looking at us.
"Hey, don't get the wrong idea, we aren't dating, and if you keep thinking that, I'm going to have to slap you. Hard."
I'd sit on the log and comb my hair with my fingers.
Gods why must I be here again?
