I looked at the flames from the campfire as I watched everyone in camp herd in. Songs would pass by and I would keep quiet for the most part, not wanting to participate in it. Occasionally I found myself humming along, or having the urge to say 'Yes! My favorite one!'. I watched as Chiron appeared in front of the camp holding a smile that lacked the confidence that should go with it.
"Campers, today we have a new arrival: Basia! And we should welcome back Notashino! Please treat them with the utmost respect and make them feel very welcomed." Chiron stated loudly, causing everyone to catch a glimpse or stare at us. I looked at Basia as he gave a small wave to the crowd, he seemed anxious at the moment.
I heard a small whisper by Basia, drawing my attention rather quickly. Before I could react to what was happening, I saw a flower shoved up Basia's nose. I watched as Basia's face held a face of pain as he faced the kid that had pranked him. I hear a loud sneeze, watching fire and ash cover the boy's face, causing the boy to leap back a good 3 feet in fear. Then I saw the glowing symbol above Basia's head, confirming my suspicions. I looked at the flaming hammer with the skull behind it making me raise an eyebrow. I'd take a slight deep breath as Chiron spoke with a slight uneasiness.
"Basia has been claimed by Hephaestus and has the legacy of... Hades."
I saw Basia whip his head towards my general direction, his face showing a mixture of confusion and curiosity. I instantly mouthed out 'I'll tell you later' to him. I watched as people started to murmur, still staring at Basia, Chiron proceeded to speak again, "Since we have our new arrivals why not have a game of Capture the Flag tomorrow morning?"
I watched as all the campers cleared out, leaving only me, Basia and Lin left.
"Okay, please clear up what the hell a legacy of Hades is, you never said anything about this," Basia said as Lin readied his explanation but I beat him to the punch.
"Basia, a legacy happens when someone in your family, in this case your mom's side, is related to a god and is given a power passed down through generations as a gift, Lin is the son of Apollo and legacy of Athena, which is why he is so freaking smart." I watched as Basia turned towards Lin, and in return, Lin shrugs. "I am the Daughter of Hecate and legacy of Aphrodite, which means I can persuade people decently easy. Demigods like us are rare, somewhere along a family member did something for a god and was awarded."
I closed my eyes and crossed my arms as I let out a quiet sigh. Sometimes I wish I could just not exist at some moments where I have to explain things. I want to keep quiet. Not speak, it's a sin to me.
"Damn, it's getting late, better head to our cabins before the Harpies come out" Lin said clearly, causing me to open my eyes.
Lin walks over to me to give me a brief hug as Basia said a quick goodbye. I walked off to my cabin, watching it shift slowly with the exterior adorned with torches. I quickly open the door into the cabin, not finding anyone in the cabin causing me to sigh. I closed the door as the white and black room shifted from an old house to a more modern display as I sat down on one of the beds. I looked at the blank space in the middle of the floor and thought of a fountain. I watched the floor manipulate itself to make a fountain, water coming out of it.
I walk up to the fountain and pulled out a drachma coin, flipping it in my hands as I readjusted the lamp beside me to hit the water, causing a rainbow.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering."
I flipped the drachma into the mist, watching the rainbow glow powerfully for a moment.
"Aya." I stated briefly, watching the rainbow's colors move quickly to assemble an image
A girl with short, uneven spiky black hair with golden eyes appeared on the mist's screen, making me slightly smile.
"Hello Nota! It's been a while. Whatcha need?"
I furrowed my eyebrows before shrugging, "Nothing really," I replied, "I kinda just wanna talk, y'know?"
Aya would smile from her location, which I was unsure of, her clothing seemed to be a suit, seeing the visible necklace that shined a purple glow made me sigh in relief.
"Well, I guess I'ma send you money, and you're gonna have to accept it because I got a business trip tomorrow, I'll visit soon, alright?"
I nodded my head with a smile as Aya waved a hand through the mist, ending the connection
"Jeez, she must've been in a hurry. Damn."
I laid down on my bed and took a deep breath, closing my eyes, falling into a decently peaceful sleep.
I woke up shortly after.
'No dream, this is rare, bring it on. Capture the flag.'
