I got a text a text from my mom. "Where are you?". I was at a party with my friends, Steven, Annie and Jade. "We should go." I said. "My mom's looking for me." "Good idea." Said Steven. Steven was my best friend since kindergarten. Jade was my best friend since kindergarten also. I only became best friends with Annie in grade two, which is when she came to the school.
It was dark out. We kept walking to find a bus stop. Soon we saw one. We waited for a few minutes, before we noticed a homeless women. She held a can out to me. I didn't do anything. "Come on!" she said. The bus pulled up and the doors opened. I pulled a few coins from my pocket and put them in the can. My friends and I ran into the bus.
LATER
"Where were you!?" Asked my mom. "I was studying at Jade's house." I lied. "At 11 o'clock on a school night?" "She doesn't have a clock in her room. I lost track of time." I said. She waited. "Go to your room. Now!" she said.
THE NEXT DAY
I got out of bed. It was 7:29. I was going to be late, so I got dressed, ran downstairs, grabbed a granola bar and left.
I waited at a city bus stop. "Nicole!" Said a female voice. My heart stopped. My body froze. "Nicole!" I turned around. It was the homeless woman from last night. She held out a wrapped box. The bus pulled up. "To thank you for all your help." She said. "Who are you and how did you know my name?" I asked. "Are you coming or not?" Said the bus driver. I walked onto the bus without an answer from the woman.
