The next day...

I woke up. It was Saturday and I was grounded for ditching class last Tuesday. Today I was invited to go see a movie with my friend Harry and his brother. They're really funny. Harry is tall. He has dark hair and brown eyes. His brother is a year older than him but he's still cool. The movies at 8:00 tonight. That's when my mom leaves for her work trip and my dad is living in LA for his job. He's a costume designer for movies and plays and skits and shows. He used to make props but his business wasn't doing well, so he switched it to costumes. My moms trip is for three weeks. She said that I'm grounded till Monday. That's not that bad. Once I was grounded for a month. But I found ways to sneak out my house.

Right now it's 1:00 in the afternoon. I went into kitchen to make breakfast. My mom was sitting down at the dinner table. She looked serious. "whats going on?" I asked. "I heard you were going to the movies tonight." she said. "who spilt the beans?" I asked. "Your friend Jake called and asked me if you were still coming." she replied. Jake was Harry's brother. "Is it really a big deal. It's not like I broke the law." I said. "I don't want to ground you. You're not grounded anymore. What's the point of grounding you. You think I don't know." she said. Know what? wait about all those times I snuck out the house? how'd she figure it out? "about what." I asked even though I clearly knew the answer. "about how you sneak out the house and how you lie to me." she said. I looked at the floor. "I was your age once and I know what you do because I've done it." she continued. "so just like that I'm not grounded?" I asked. "ya pretty much." she answered. I smiled and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I checked my phone to see if I got any texts.
