She walked a mile, lost in her thoughts, it was nine in the evening
Long day at work, husband waiting for dinner, everything seemed so taxing
It was just last week she resumed office, wedding celebrations coming to an end
Beautifully dressed in yellow kurta, the red bangles adorning the newly wed
She thought of adding some spunk to her humdrum day, naughty prank played on her mind
She called her husband and said 'Reena would drop me, work would take some more time'
Looking around for an auto in vain, she frantically tried to book a cab, internet signals were weak
Standing near the light pole, the road less traveled and the hour not so peak
She had her eyes and attention in her phone when a car pulled by
Before she could realise what happened she was already pushed in
Her mouth immediately tied up, her screams were unheard
Her hands being pushed away, the fear making her vision blurred
Two men at the front seat instructing the other two "Get it done fast"
These words flushed like blood through her veins leaving her aghast
She lay there lifeless for two hours, her soul and spirit being torn apart
Horrified, terrified can't find a word justifying what she felt
Two hours of her life, so painfully, that would be dwelt
Thrown by the roadside when it was done, felt like she was some garbage being dumped
Gathering yet some strength to stand and move, somehow she managed to reach her home
When she saw her husband standing there, all she wanted to do was Hug and Cry
But all her wishes crumbled, when he took a step back and asked her the "WHY"
Why did you not wait at the office? Why did you take that road?
Why did you not call me immediately? Why did you ever step out of home?
She stood there numb and dumbfounded, staring into his eyes, she thought,
My body and soul are violated to the core, but not a drop in His eye?
Why can't he ask those scoundrels the WHY, why did they devastate
Ask them, if they saw at least an ounce of my pain or were they just
animals who castigate
Should I howl, rant or cry, would my cry fall on deaf ears?
Was it only my body that they devoured or was it also my smiles and tears?
The world out there just wants to know
When, where, what and why I wore
With whom was I, What and Why I spoke
Indifferent and apathetic to the trauma and pain I was put through
Isn't this world a sadist place, that loves to blab, unnerving a women, all resulting in only her agony to accrue
