"Hi, I'm Aarya spelt A-A-R-Y-A, must people think it's A-R-I-A. Like with Aria from Pretty Little Liars but it isn't. I haven't seen you before are you new, I'm sure you are! Where are you from" asks Aarya excitedly.
She had to be talkative why couldn't I have been stuck with the quiet one or anyone else? Why me? What did I do to not get my peace? I thought.
"Oh I'm uh Nellie and I am new, I'm from Wisconsin" I say.
"Wow that's pretty far away, what made you come to Maryland" she asks
"My parents for whatever reason rushed over here so I'm not sure why we're here.... it's almost like they were hiding something" I say but whisper that last part so I don't sound suspicious.
"Oh weird...it must have been hard to move and leave your friends."
"I didn't have many friends so not really but I miss my old house and my brother and sister miss their friends" I confess, I wasn't popular at all. I had fifteen people who weren't weren't forced to or adults talk to me all school year at my old school. I had three friends. But I miss those three.
"How come?"
"Oh I uhh... um see I uh... told all the kids in my second grade class that I did something and they thought I was crazy" I said hoping she wouldn't ask what I don't need everyone here avoiding me too.
I told them I could levitate my doll. I was almost sent to a therapist like my sister but my brother and sister stopped my parents by saying I was just a kid and it must have been my imagination. That was one of the few moments I enjoyed being called a silly kid.
Just as she opened her mouth to ask what I did a paper airplane hit my head. Thank you whoever threw it!
"Hey" I yelled standing. I turned to see three boys, one with blond hair and one with brown those were the boys playing basketball. Then the other boy has the darkest brown hair, it almost looks black, he's got light milky skin and the awesomest eyes I have ever seen. They're very bright green. Like lime green.
"Yeah" asks the boy with blond hair
"What's your problem?" I ask
"What's yours" asks the light brown-haired boy
"You are my problem" I say as Aarya stands up
"Sit down and leave her alone Caden" she yells pointing to the boy with light brown hair, obviously Caden.
"Aarya stay out" he yells back
They argue for a while and eventually stop. Aarya sits back down and so do I after staring the boys down.
"You didn't have to say anything it was just a game but thanks" I say quietly to Aarya
"I did, see Caden's my neighbor and I found out he will keep bothering someone until he has someone else to bother" she says
"But now he's going to bother you"
"I don't care I'll just tell on him to his sister and she'll take care of him" we laugh and the bus stops. The boys run off first then everyone else rushes out of the bus as Aarya and I wait for everyone to get off.
I grab my bag and trumpet then get off the bus with Aarya. As I walk onto the sidewalk I trip over the curb and my case flies out of my hand. Luckily it didn't open but I hear tons of kids snickering.
Not exactly how I wanted to start my first day of school. So instead of just looking embarrassing I say "I can teach you how to do that if you want."
Aarya helps me up and says "Oh show me it looks fun!" I'm sure she and I will get along just fine.
I grab my case and walk. Luckily, the only thing got was stinging hands and knees. Aarya and I walk into the school casually.
"Do you have your schedule or do you need to go to the office to get it?" asks Aarya
"I have to go get it" I say
"Ok let's go then"
"Alright, where do we go"
"I'll show you but first come with me" she says and grabs my hand. She pulls me into the bathroom.
"Make sure nobody comes in here" says Aarya looking around
"Why" I ask
"Can't tell" she says walking over to the paper towel thing and opening it. I guess I'll help because I want to be friends. I hear paper moving and then she closes the paper towel dispenser.
I wash my hands to clean the dirt (from when I tripped) off my hands. She fixes her blue jeans and turquoise shirt. As she's tying her black boots a tall girl with long straight blond hair comes in saying "Ruby are you in here? Have you seen Ruby, I can't find her anywhere!"
"Nope" says Aarya then the girl leaves "That's Rose, Ruby's her little sister. Ruby's got shocking pink hair and she's in our grade. Ruby's in eighth." I nod then we walk out the bathroom.
"Hey girl catch" I hear and look up to see a football flying towards my head. I immediately reached out and caught it but whoever threw it must have been strong because I flew backwards onto my butt.
"Nice"
"Woah Nellie you alright?" asks Aarya helping me up.
"Yeah thanks" I reply looking to see who threw the ball I caught.
Guess who it is! Caden and his friends, what a surprise! I would've never guessed!
"Here. Didn't think I'd catch it did you" I ask throwing the football back to Caden who stares at us. Aarya and I start walking to the office.
"Do you play sports" Caden asks running up to us.
"Nope" I say.
"You should you react quickly and have a good arm."
"Thank you. But what would I play?"
"Softball, basketball, football, anything really."
"Ok well I'll look into it" I say smiling as Caden walks away.
"What was that" Aarya asks me.
"I don't know but it was weird" I say.
"The only time I saw him talk to a girl casually without insults is when he talks to his sister or Emma. He has a crush on Emma" says Aarya.
"You think he has crush on me! I hope not that'd just be too weird" I say.
"I don't know, maybe... Here's the office" Aarya says pointing to a glass door.
"Okay your coming with me right" I ask her.
"Of course" she replies as if it were obvious.
