I remember.....

I remember my mother and father, both were kind, loving, and protective....

I don't remember much

But, I remember those things

Those monsters that ran and kill anything they find....

Those monsters.....killed my family....

"RUN NYX!!!" My father shouted as the monster chomped on his neck as a pool of blood soaked the ground as my mother grabbed me and I looked back at my daddy, who laid in the ground motionless.

"Poppa?"

I watched the love in his eyes disappear as the monster stared angrily at me and my mommy. He roars and yells as he runs to us, my mom carried on as the monster chased us. My mother noticed a bush and hid me in it, hoping the monster won't find me. "My baby," my mother sobbed as she reached for her blue necklace and placed it on me. I reached for her hands and she smiled sadly at me and she kissed my forehead. "I love you, Nyx...." My mom whispered as she stood up and waved at the monster. She ran and the monster trailed behind her. Leading to a scream from my mother and a gunshot followed after. "Mommy?" I called as I left my hiding spot and stood up. "Momma, where are you?" I shouted and I looked around. "Mommy!!!" I shouted and I hear footsteps nearby. "Mommy?" I questioned and walked towards the bushes.

"Mommy? I-Is that-"

The monster shown his face to me and I noticed my mother laid on the ground with her throat ripped out. I gasped at the creature and he runs to me. I tried to run, but I tripped on a rock. I glanced at the creature behind me with fearful eyes and stood very still. The monster jumps on me and I feel a sharp pain on my side.

"MOMMY!!!"

BANG!

The monster fell to the floor and I crawled away from it holding my side. "M-Mommy?" I whimpered as I glanced at the woman with dark green eyes and auburn brown hair holding a pistol and another woman, darker lady with a bun on her head, who glares at the woman the monster bit. "C-Can you help me? My mother she's-" "Dead." The darken lady replied and I glared at her. "No. She's not dead," I glanced at my mom, who wasn't breathing and laid very still. "S-She's not..." I whimpered as the woman with green eyes pulled me away from the body. "Mommy?!?" I cried and tears fell to the floor and the girl with auburn brown hair continues to pull me away. "C'mon, kid. Marlene, we have to go." The young lady shouts as she held me in her arms and Marlene nodded. "Okay. Let's go." Marlene said as we ran through the forest and I looked back at my mommy in sadness.

That was the last time I saw her.

Marlene and the woman stopped as they looked back to check if anything followed us. I whimpered as I held my side as blood slipped between my fingers. Marlene noticed this as she took off her backpack and pulled out some bandages, Alcohol, and some pills. The auburn haired lady sat me down gently as I laid on my side so they can treat my wound.

"Anna, hold her down." Marlene ordered.

Anna walked to the side of me and placed both of her hands on me so that I wouldn't be able to move.  Marlene raised my shirt and sees the wound as she gently poured the rubbing alcohol on a rag, then placed it on my injury. "AHHHHHHHH!!!!!" I screamed horrifyingly as I felt a burning sensation on my side as Anna held me down as Marlene cleaned my wound. "It's okay, kid. We're done. We're done." Marlene whispered as I calmed down a little bit. "That's it." Anna whispered. Marlene opens the bandages and wrapped it over my stomach and chest. "She's gonna need some time to heal, but otherwise I say she should be fine." Marlene said as she rubbed her hand over my hair messing it up. "So could we keep her?" Anna asked and I looked up at her with sad eyes. "Well, unless you're planning on sending her back to the outside world, Anna, She wouldn't even last a second out there and I'm not planning to be responsible for a death of a little girl," Marlene said and Anna nods as she reached for me as she picked me up using her arms for support. "She could be some use of us." Anna smiles at me warmly and I smiled back as she held my head into her shoulder. "I'll take her back to my house, while you can tell the others that we have a new firefly recruit." Anna said and Marlene nods in approval.
