Prologue
"The Loo? Really, are you sure?" Eleanor giggled silently at her boyfriend, Ian, who just couldn't comprehend that she was still using her British terms, even after two years of dating. They had met only a few days after her arrival in America, seeing as he was her next-door neighbor, and started to date her just a month later. Eleanor Nuland did not really enjoy speaking of her past life of a foster child in England, but she also did not mind answering his questions of the country itself.
"Yes, I would find it brilliant if I could use the loo please?" She stared innocently into Ian's green eyes with a pleading look.
"I don't know about you, but I see plenty of all natural toilets here!" He chuckled while telling her. He opened his arms to emphasize on what he was so obviously implying. As her gaze followed his hands out into the cool fall air, she gazed into the scenery that was not her ideal bathroom. They were sitting in a huge field filled with wild flowers and grass. The entire field was surrounded with trees that he had been pointing out, suggesting that she make them her loo. She begrudgingly stood up and walked over to an end of the field, touching the tree's bark with her bare hand.
"Are you sure you want me to do this?" She playfully shouted to him without looking back.
"Hey, if you've gotta go, you gotta go!" he yelled back to her in an equally playful tone, but the sound was almost completely drained out by a rumble in the sky and a light sprinkle of rain.

"I'm so sorry Haley, I didn't mean for you to go like this." Adna cries softly, like she has been doing for the past 6 months. She always tries to visit her best friend who had passed in a car accident as frequently as she can. As she recalls that day, she realizes how emotionally distressed she has been. Adna and Haley had had plans that afternoon to go watch a movie, Toy Story 3 at 2:50pm on a Sunday afternoon. She remembers every detail, especially of how selfish she had been to take someone’s life because of a simple headache. Adna had canceled her plans that day to stay home and "try to mend her horrible" headache. Because of this, she never got to see her dear friend ever again. Other than when she was being lowered into the ground. As the clouds above started to turn darker grey and rain gently poured onto the ground Adna fell to her knees.
"Why? Why?! I didn't mean it!! I wish I could take it all back Hales, I swear. We could have been laughing in that theater, I knew how much you loved Rex. Please come back. Please?!" Adna exclaimed to no one in particular, hoping that someone, anyone, would hear her pleads. As she sat against the tombstone, crying so hard her heart might burst, she put her head between her knees. How could this get any worse? She decided to lean her head back against the cement buried partially in the ground.
"Oh, how did we get here Hales, huh? You buried six feet deep and me above sitting on the dirt separating us. You would be here yelling at me about how dramatic I sound, I know. I just-" she chuckled slightly to herself, "I don't know how much longer I can keep this up." She looked up to the sky, and as soon as she did, she wished she hadn't.

It's a good thing Lucas was home alone so no one could hear the sound of glass shattering against the basement floor. He felt like he could pull out his hair. He could sense how Adna felt, they had been friends long enough for him to know. As he is thinking of how much pain she is going through, he cannot help but feel the same exact way as her. He had tried calling her multiple times earlier, no answer. He tried again about two minutes ago, no answer again. He just wishes he could be there to save the day and hold her in his arms like he has wanted to for a long time.
Adna and Lucas have been inseparable since they were 5 years old. In Mr. Richards class, Lucas had been there to go against any bullies for Adna. She is pretty quirky, and that was why she got made fun of, because she was different than the others, but that was what he liked about her, even at such a young age. Then throughout the years they grew closer and closer and had gotten a new friend into their group, Haley Masterson. They were all 12 and fresh out of 5th grade when she came into their lives. After 5 years of memories, she had left them. Disappeared into thin air it seems.
When he looked out of the screened in window to the backyard, he noticed what he had done. Outside it was hazy grey and the humid and misty air never seemed so thick. Above you could see the faint light of the blue sky disappearing behind the heavy black storm clouds. Every inch of the sky was now either dark blue or black. No more sun for the day. As he felt some rain come through the top of the door, he noticed the rain had started to get heavier. He needed to figure out a way to train himself to keep himself calm, he couldn't have any disasters happening.
