The Phoenix

I am flying into the clouds

A fiery bird who creates no sounds

For the eyes peer above

With me, they are in love

I soar lightly, passing by

The children wonder how I fly

All they see is my flames

My majestic form goes down in fame

The Sun beats upon my wings

Children find gifts to bring

My glorious body begins to malt

Putting my flight to a halt

I hit the ground and turn to ash

The children begin to whine and lash

The situation seems so awry

To think that someday I would die

Children crouch by my side

The tears wash over like the tide

Then my ashes begin to glow

Their beautiful light, like powdered snow

After a day, I'm back to life

The children so happy, relieved from strife

They etched me on their clothes of leather

I give to them, my scarlet feather

It always reminds them of my magic

It's used to prevent something tragic

I fly above them once more

Their beautiful smiles I adore
