I've never been one to make the smartest choices.

Particularly when in the eleventh grade and when it involves chemistry.

Sure, I was a good student and tended to keep myself out of serious trouble, but choosing the right path was always difficult for me.

One might be inclined to study for a test when it was the next day. I would be more inclined to watch whatever TV show I was in the process of binge-watching.

Somehow I still managed to be on the honour roll at school.

My tendency to watch mass amounts of television wasn't my biggest problem, however.

Like any cliché romance story, my biggest problem was a very attractive and moody male with a mysterious past.

Actually, it was his dad.

It sounds stupid, right? How bad can meeting the parents be?

Trust me when I say that there's a lot to be learned when you're first introduced to someone else's parents.

Especially when they look like they've walked out of some horror novel that gave you nightmares for a year straight.

When Devon arrived at the school, all the girls and some of the guys swooned, myself included.

His dark appearance and mysterious personality was everything anyone could wish for in a tiny town such as Summerview. An adventure was something the youth of the town yearned for.

It was his sudden appearances and the constant theft of my notebooks that allowed me to get to know him better.

Mostly because I would be the one yelling like some crazy person in the middle of commonly quiet places. It was easy to say that we didn't see eye-to-eye on a lot of things.

Truth be told, I didn't realize how much trouble I had gotten myself into until a month later and people started to disappear.

You only get one life to live, and I was quick to learn that spending the rest of it in Summerview or anywhere near Devon may not be the safest idea.

Then again, I've never been one to follow the path of common sense.
