"Hello?" Hunter asked as he pushed open the door as it creaked.
"Come on in," A voice welcomed as he made his way into the room. "Hi," The lady said as she motioned for him to take a seat, he gave her a little smile as he made his way to a chair and sat down. She looked nothing like Aubrey, no one truly looked just like her, he knew that but his mind liked to play games on him. But she didn't even slightly resemble her, this lady was slightly older with long brown hair and looked taller than her and wasn't as skinny as Aubrey. Hunters train of thought was cut off by the therapist introducing herself.
"Im Miss. Bleu, But you can call me Courtney," She said putting her hand out for him to shake it.
"Hunter," He said shaking her hand.
"How are you today Hunter?"
"I'm alright, I guess," he told Courtney.
"I know this is a new experience for you and I want you to feel comfortable, we don't need to dive deep today if you're not feeling it, but I would like to know a little about you and why you're here," She spoke with a professional but welcoming tone.
"I don't know how to talk about it without spiraling out of control," Hunter spoke as he played with the rings on his fingers.
"I can tell you're nervous but there is nothing to be nervous about, this is a safe space and I'm here to help you."
"Im here because of my girlfriend and my ex girlfriend," Hunter said, not wanting to share the whole story.
"What is it about your girlfriend that you want to talk about?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" He questioned, rethinking this therapy thing.
"Like did she hurt you in some way, or herself? what seems to be the problem with her?"
"There is no problem with her," Hunter snapped. "Sorry," he sighed.
"It's alright, I want you to be honest here."
"She left me."
"So is she your ex, because I wanted to focus on the girlfriend first," Courtney spoke calmly.
"Well no, we- it's just- she's dead," he said, flustered. Courtney was speechless for a second as she glanced at Hunter who had a small frown on his face.
"Do you want to talk about it or wait another day?" She asked, respectfully.
"If I talk about it right now can we be done for today?" hunter asked sadly.
"Sure," Courtney said with a reassuring smile.
"Um, her name was Aubrey. I called her Sunshine," Hunter smiled remembering his best friend. "She was beautiful, she had short lilac colored hair and always smelled of flowers - peonies specifically - mixed with my cologne when she'd wear my clothes. She always loved wearing my t-shirts after sex," Hunter laughed. "She had some tattoos, I'll always remember the one on her wrist that said 'protect me from what I want'. Her family was awful to her but when I was there it didn't seem to matter as much and I'd stick up for her. Oh and we'd hang out with our friend Silas and play Mario Kart and watch movies, we would always argue about what movie to watch. On the day she killed her self, I had spent the night the day before and she'd had a really shit day, but the next morning she seemed happy and refreshed, I wasn't sure why, I hoped it was because of the night we had had. But it just didn't seem like that was the reason and later that day her, Silas and I all hung out and then that night we all stood on the bridge and Silas started his walk home and I said goodbye to her from my truck and then she jumped."
