Going back to school the next day was weird. People looked at me weird but I just ignored it. The year was almost over and I was almost out of it forever. I met Luke at his locker. Jai told me that I had to tell Luke. He was all for me going to visit UCLA.

“Hello der.” I said greeting him. Gripping my books close to my chest.

“Hey.” He said kissing me.

“Can you come over after school?”

“Yeah sure. Why what’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just have to tell you something.”

“Is it bad? Are you pregnant?”

“NO! You’re the like 3rd person who asked me.”

“Okay. I’ll see you in English.” He said kissing me again. I didn’t know how I was going to do this. It was going to be so hard.

Luke, Jai, James and I got to my house after school. They rummaged through my kitchen to get something to eat before sitting with me on my couch.

“So what’s up?” James asked. Jai was the only one who knew.

“Well..” I hesitated. Jai informed me that everything would be okay.

“What?” Luke wanted me to say it.

“I got into UCLA and i realized how amazing this opportunity would be. And i’m going to go visit it next weekend while you guys are in Queensland. And i’ll only be gone the same amount of time. And who knows if I’ll even like the school. I’m just visiting.” I said in one breath as quickly as i could. Luke sat there and looked at me.

“That’s so great!” James assured me.

“Thanks James. Luke?” I wanted him to say something. Anything.

“Luke say something.” Jai pushed him.

“Congratulations Reagan.” He said with a tone before he got up and slung his backpack over his shoulder and left my house. I just sat there paralyzed by him leaving. Jai and James both tried to comfort me.

“Reagan i’ll talk to him. I think he is just upset. I know he is happy for you.” Jai tried to comfort me. But it wasn’t working.

“I think you guys should go.” I said getting up and going into my room to cry. They listened to me and left.

Jai’s Point of View:

“You really are a dick. You know that.” I slammed my backpack on the floor James was behind me.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Luke yelled back.

“You can’t just be happy for Reagan? She is trying to live out her dream. She is trying to do something with her life. But you have to be so damn stubborn.”

“I’m happy for her. Really.” He tried to convince me but I wasn’t buying it.

“I don’ believe you Luke. You walked out on her. She was waiting for your okay. She basically is waiting for you to tell her it’s okay for her to go. She is waiting for you to approve of her dreams Luke.”

“Well...”

“Exactly. She loves you Luke. She tells me everyday how much she loves you. You are perfect together. Don’t let your stubbornness ruin it. Let her know it’s okay for her to go.”

“What is all he yelling?” Mom asked walking in.

“Mom tell Luke to stop being so stubborn!”
