I hear it

Your laugh

My head turns to meet your eyes but I just find it was the noise of a car, honking as it drives by

I catch a glimpse of your eyes as I walk by and turn
I swear it was that green brown gaze but I only find the lights coming from some old run down hotel

My name

It's your voice saying my name and my heart lurches towards the sound
You make my name sound like a sweet song that will always bring my heart to you

But all I see is a parked car with some radio guy talking of some girl who has again caused some drama in the world of stars

I breathe in air

it smells of your shirt

But it's just the smells of the city

I hear it

your soft sigh

that would fill the comfortable silence we would have. A sigh that this was our lives and that it was good. That we were good

But it's just the hum of car engines that ring throughout the streets

I cross the street and travel on the sidewalk which is lit with a path of light that reminds me of the glow of your bedroom light

I close my eyes and I see you in front of me

You're calling me to you again

"I'm here"

"I won't leave"

"Do you see me?"

"I want you
"

But I open my eyes and it's an empty sidewalk with grass growing from the cracks in the pavement

And I just walk
I walk through the city

The city of you.
