Yuki's POV:
I sat in the center of the charred chamber as I focused my flame into the coals so as they would continue to burn with my magic infused with it. My breath came out in heavy pants as my hands shook violently, rattling the chains clasped around my wrists and connecting to either walls on both my left and right side. The one around my waist chained me to floor in the very place I sat and the one that sat loosely around my neck connected to the ceiling of the furnace above me. I was no longer sure how long I had been draining my mana this time.
I felt so tired.... I wanted to stop. I wanted to rest. But surely these guards that watch me wouldn't appreciate that and would most likely wake me immediately. I also wonder when it last was since I had received a meal no matter the fact that I rarely ever got to eat it anyway. But I couldn't seem to recall when it was last. Raising one hand I coughed lightly into it due to the dry scratchiness I felt tingling at the back of my throat.
Even so the hours dragged on and on as I poured my life into this bottomless pit to the point I couldn't hold my arms up any longer and I couldn't sit up straight. I fell to the side as I panted heavily feeling the chain from my left hand lying under it as I attempted to keep myself sitting up right and not lying completely across the soot covered metal floor. I hated this.... Why couldn't I just live a normal life. I never wanted this.
Once again the burning hatred I felt for this life of living solely like a battery returned like it always did. And even though I didn't notice I found myself gripping the chain in a strangling hold. I remained still as I sat there but upon noticing a small plum of smoke begin to caress my chin and past my face I looked at my hand to find steam rising up under my palm.
Slowly moving my hand to the side I found the metal to be red hot and distorted as it had been altered due to my harsh grip and immense heat from my sudden anger. I simply looked at it before my gaze flickered to my open palm. I then looked up at the hatch and stared at it for a moment remembering that I hadn't been bothered by anyone in a long while. Something that was considered abnormal, therefore was this my chance to escape if this worked like I thought it might? Was I willing to take that risk? Yes.... Yes I was.
Licking my lips briefly I picked up the chain and began to pour all the heat I could muster into it before beginning to pull on it as hard as I could. And then.... It snapped with several of the pieces falling to the floor with a soft clank. Tears welled up in my eyes that immediately began to hiss lowly and disappear before they could even begin to fall down my cheeks, all the while I stared at my free hand, even with the clasp still firmly planted around my wrist it could now move freely. No restraint of any kind to keep it in place, it was free. I then quickly turned to the others and began the process of breaking them as well with a new found determination.
By the time I had done all of them I could hardly bring myself to move. I was still exhausted from the heavy stasis that my body was struggling to recover from. My body was incredibly weak, how was I supposed to even get out of this place if I couldn't even move? But I can't just give up, I've already come so far. There's gotta be a nearby window I can get to and sneak out of. It might be difficult to find due to my lack of knowledge on the world outside of this metal container but I have to try. Come on, Yuki.... You're so close. Continuing my mental pep talk I dragged my body up and using the wall as support I went towards the door. Although this probably wasn't a good idea I still mustered up some more mana to melt the locking mechanism on the thick metal door, allowing me to leave the furnace and close the door behind me so that it didn't look as suspicious. Strangely enough there was no one outside my furnace which explained why no had bothered me.
I then began to carefully walk down the unfamiliar corridor of the castle that was called my home. For the most part, the halls were empty which was strange but still in my favor. And then I heard why. All the guards were upstairs in what might have been a ball room while my father drank and partied to his heart's content. Something he bragged about quite blatantly to my face the few times he would come to see me. Boasting about how helpful his little battery was making it so throughout the years I hated my own flesh and blood. Upon coming up on a split path I looked down the opposite corridor only to find a single set of glass doors that led to a balcony that overlooked a beautiful garden covered in what I assume was snow and that I thankfully could luckily climb down to. I tripped over my feet a lot due to not being used to walking but still was able to make it outside where I had my first breath of fresh air. My lungs greedily taking it in with every step.
