Operation Speck

Departure

    Not long after Operation Bird, I was promoted to be in the special OP's and become the corpsmen of that squad. I asked why I was picked and they simply said, "We don't have many corpsmen because it takes courage to give a life back in the midst of battle, as well we believe you are good on what you do." I was happy that I was little of the few who were selected to be in the special forces. Training was worst and felt like hell if you think basic boot camp is hard, this is harder, more difficult. But finally it was over and we where task to make a FOB near a town that is being occupied by U.S forces. Soon we were tasked with "Operation Speck," I was aware a patrol went out to check a small town but never came back. But soon the first lieutenant asked us to check it out. "Asking Us to go check on a small town?" said Jack, Jack is one of the best snipers I know and can hit targets farther than six hundred meters out which is impressive. "Hey its something to do, sitting here is kinda boring" replied Ernst who is the spotter. "I agree with Ernst, sitting here and patroling gets boring, nothing to do, so this might be some fun," I told them.

    Cai walked in, whose our radio operator "The first lieutenant told me we are going to depart soon so get ready," I was a little excited because we just sat and built the FOB and just patroled it for a week or more. We walked out and went to the canteen to eat before heading out, when we entered Kole who is our machine gunner was sitting over from Deepak who was our AT solder. "Hey, we are going out soon," said Cai, "I'ght," replied Kole, we went over to get some food and then sat next to them. Soon Kendra walked in whose the first female grenadier on the special forces and asked. "Hey, did anyone see my HK?" she would commonly misplace her weapons or tools. "Did you check under your bed?" replied Kole, "Err," then she rushed out of the tent. "Heh, always forgetting to check there" laughed Deepak. "Hey guys, there is going to be a black hawk inbound to pick us up," said Cai. "Understood," we all said, soon Kendra walked back in with an HK on her side and got some food and sat down with us. Cai went over and said softly "Did you know that a black hawk is inbound to pick us up and its ETA is, well, about five minutes?" She looked at him and looked a little startled and started to eat as fast as possible. "Hey slow down, you got time," I told her, but she kept going. "It's not five minutes, it's ten minutes so you should have enough time." she looked back at Cai and told him "Jeez, don't do that, you had me a little frightened." then Cai said "I'm sorry but you need to get your things ready," he said sighing. Then our squad leader came in whose name is Linus, "I see you are up early, and Kendra, it's rare to see you up early. "It's in the middle of the night sir," Kendra told him "If its pass 12 am then its morning," he said in a sharp voice. "Hey, Frederik," he asked me "Yesir!" I said in a deep warm voice, "Here take this" then hands me an MK16 Mod 0 SCAR. "This is the gun you wanted, correct?" he asked, "Yesir, thank you, sir!" I said happily. "You don't need to give me all the sir talk you know that right?" he said laughing, "Yesi- I mean, Linus," I said frantically, then he started to laugh more. "Its fine Corporal," he said, trying to calm down.

    "Cai, whats the ETA on that bird?" Linus asked, then Cai went on to his radio and asked the ETA on the bird then said, "They say it's going to be six minutes," "Understood, men get ready and pack up, we are leaving within six minutes." Then everyone in the squad got ready and packed up, I asked Kendra if she forgot her NVG, then she sighed and went off to get hers. Soon we started to hear the bird coming in and we started to get ready to enter. The other squads gathered around and hoped our luck. I check if I had everything, "Vest, check, extra ammo, er- check, meds, check," I looked down at my gun and made sure I had everything, "Yup." The bird landed and we entered into the helo and got ready. "Everyone in?" asked Linus, "Yes," we all said, and Linus signaled the pilot to go, soon we were up in the air and moving to the A/O.
