The jump

Few steps back and getting ready for the leap.

After making sure I had enough distance, I sprinted forward. I'm not sure how far is that building exactly, but no sane person would ever consider jumping that.

Just few more steps.

Three...

Two...

And my cursed luck decided that this was way too easy for me...

I'm going to hunt down the person who oversaw building this roof... If I survive long enough to do that.

I was about to jump, but I didn't see the little bump in my path. And, of course, I stumbled on it.

It sent me flying a lot sooner than I'd appreciate.

With my missed step, my mind went into panic as I started falling into the gap between the two buildings. I won't make it... It's way too far.

Time slowed, and I just watched myself falling past the balcony I aimed for. Oh shit, Master and Carl will kill me. But that nice road down there will make their job easier...

Fear filled my entire being. I hate fear and this type especially. Fear for my life.

Your brain either completely stops and you freeze just waiting for your death, run for your life, or fight back.

I've never remembered wat happened to me, because at that point she has taken control.

And for a little moment, everything went black.

My breath was forced out of my lungs and I felt myself crash into a hard wall. That brought me back. Something snapped and terrible pain erupted in my shoulder.

I shomehow managed to catch an edge of a lower balcony, not the one I wanted to reach, but at least it wasn't the ground below. The force of impact must have broken my arm.

Without enough strength to hold on, I was soon falling again. Still a bit dazed, I felt myself using my good arm to catch on yet another balcony. Come on! You can do this!

It took me a great effort to hoist myself over low wall and not curse loudly in pain. I had to keep quiet in case I woke someone.

I took a deep breathe before shaking my head to clear it. Even that small movement hurt like shit. Now quickly, where in the hell am I?

This place looked new. No flowerpots or decorations. Just blank walls staring back at me.

Looking up, I thought about climbing to my chosen balcony. Carl had already checked that one and it provided me with a free way out. Yeah. With that broken arm of yours? Out of question.

I needed to do something with my injury, or it will slow me down even more. But not here. The cops could enter the rooftop any time now, with good chance to see, or hear me.

"Carl? I need info." Only silence answered me back.

Frowning, I tried again. "Carl? Can you hear me?" Like before, only silence.

I reached for my headphone to check if I haven't damaged it with my graceful jump only to discover that there was no headphone.

I cursed under my breath. Great. Freaking great...

Now I'll have to do it the old and hard way. Carl can strangle me later.

It's interesting how I always manage to land in those wierd situations. After I entered this apartment, I made sure I haven't woken anyone up. Luckily for me, no one was home.

I heard loud footsteps and voices. The cops had made it to the roof. What a relief I made it here before any of them would hear me. That reminded me...

I gingerly reached to my aching arm. My shoulder was still sending painful waves into my body. I have no idea how I even managed to get here, let alone stayed quite quiet through all of this.

On the bright side, it wasn't broken as I initially thought. Just dislocated. I'm definitely not looking forward to this pain again.

Grinding my teeth, I jerked it back and let out a loud hiss of pain. Aching like hell but it'll be working again. I checked myself for anything else, but apart a splited lip, I found only bruises.

With all the cops around, it won't be safe to travel in those clothes, so I decided to borrow some from owner of this apartment. I'd guess it belonged to a woman similar to my own size, but her choice of clothes? Let's just say that some of her outfits were simply ridiculous. Really, who would even buy a lobster costume?

For Halloween or anything like that? Fine. It's not a problem. But she had a whole collection of costumes representing seafood.

Even her plates had pictures of starfish on them!

I shook my head and started looking for something more normal. Ache in my shoulder didn't help any in my hunt after clothes, but I ignored it. In the end, I decided for old blue T-shirt and a pair of jeans. I put them on without taking off my black suit. I don't have the time for it and if something happened, I had weapons on me.

I did a quick sweep through her apartment, but after finding nothing of use, I headed for the main door.

And now I just need to get out.
