Pim and I are walking down the sidewalk, kicking a pinecone back and forth.
"You kissed? That's not new."
"This time was different. I just told him I love him. And he loves me. There was tongue. And all this emotion. So much feeling."
"Honestly though, I started shipping you two the day I met Ash. He looks at you like you're the reason the sun shines. And you two kiss all the time. I really never understood how Ned was okay with it."
"We didn't do it in front of Ned! I was always too upset when he was around anyway."
Pim shoots me a mischievous smile and kicks the pinecone my way. I stop it with my foot and play with it as I walk.
"What?"
"Bet you wanted to watch while he broke up with Ned."
"No," I exclaim, kicking the pinecone back to her, a little too hard, "Well. I mean, I was excited. I never liked him. And I really wanted to start dating Ash."
Pim smiles and her round little cheeks light up. She really is cute.
"Want to study at my place tonight?"
"Can we do it tomorrow night? Ash and I have our first official date tonight."
"I'm so excited for you!!!! We can start double dating. But Jasper," she grabs my arm and the pinecone skitters to a stop near her feet, "promise me. You won't become one of those people who ditches their friends and becomes totally absorbed in their boyfriend."
"Of course not, Pim," I say, mortified, "You're amazing, I'm so lucky to know you. I treasure our friendship too much to ever do that!"
"Good," she says, releasing my arm and kicks the pinecone again.
We kick it back and forth all the way to my apartment. I tell her good bye and I'll see you tomorrow and I go in.
There is loud music and steam pouring out from under the bathroom door. Ash's usual getting ready procedure. I smile and duck into my room and close the door. We promised we wouldn't look at each other until the date actually started. I want to surprise and woo him so I find my tightest jeans. I usually hate wearing tight clothes, but I want Ash to look at my ass and think about touching it. Then I find a powder blue button up and my nicer shiny brown shoes. Lastly, I take out a boutonniere. It's just little pink rose. All fresh and new. But I know how much Ash likes pomp. I have a matching one for him too.
Ash flings open my door and struts in. He's only wearing a towel and it's low on his hips.
"ASH," I scream and yank one of my blankets over my outfit.
"I know you need my help getting ready," he shouts bossily and grabs at the blanket.
"Not this time!"
Ash wrinkles his brow, "What? Are you sure??"
"Yes!"
"You picked it out by yourself?"
"..."
He cocks an eyebrow at me.
"Pim helped!"
"Ahhhh," he says knowingly and I'm annoyed at his smug little face.
"But I did most of it! Now get out!" I push his at slick shoulder. I feel a tidal wave of lust wash over me. He's... slick. And wet. And naked. Under that towel...
I'm not pushing him so hard anymore, he's watching my face with fascination. I screw up my nose and I'm about to say something but he kisses me instead.
