The rhythmical beeping of the heart monitor could be heard in the room. It had been few months since the car accident. His mother sat beside the bed and caressed her son's hair. She smiled and tugged a strand of hair behind his ear.
"Everything's going to be alright." his mother whispered and kissed his forehead. She stared at Joshua for awhile. He was hanging on. Between life and death. She took his hand and squeezed it gently. She kissed his hand and closed her eyes.
Lisa knocked the door and suddenly her son turned the door knob and rushed into the room. He ran around the room while playing with an aeroplane toy. She entered the room followed by her husband. The woman beside Joshua looked up at them and blinked a few times.
"Mellisa.." She paused when Lisa looked at her. The expression of his mother's was the same as when Joshua looked at her near the coffee shop. Dumbstruck by the fact that she had a child and a husband by her side.
She chuckled and smiled, "I didn't know you have married.." She said softly and looked at her husband.
He smiled and approach them. "Yes, Madam. My name is Kevin Wright."
The woman nodded and smiled. "I guess he didn't know this." She whispered and patted her chest.
'He did..' Lisa thought and stayed silent.
"Come sit." she patted the side of the bed and Lisa took a sit there. Her husband sat on a chair and looked at Joshua.
"Josh had told me a lot of things about you. He called you Lisa, right.?" His mother said and looked at her. "You are so tomboyish back then. Loves video games and boy's stuffs... And I can't believe that now you have... changed? Everything that he described about you. It is opposite from what I see now." She said softly and smirked.
Lisa blushed slightly when she recalled the old days. "That's..." She paused and looked at Kevin when he leaned forward at them.
"I.. didn't know that." He said while his eyes were wide open.
The woman chuckled and looked at Kevin. "He told me how his first time met her. Wanna hear it?" She asked and Kevin nodded his head.
"N-no. You do--"
"I still remember that he said he had been called as 'a priest' at the junior school. He always bring the religious books that his father bought for him. Till one day, the bullies started targeting him, teasing him, and hurting him." His mother paused and looked at Lisa. "Then, she saved the day. Scold the bullies and kicked them."
Lisa blushed when recalled that old days.
Kevin nodded and rubbed his chin. "Then?"
"Well, she accompanied him to the infirmary to treat his bruises." She chuckled and smiled. "What he had told me.. A part of his memories, were too precious... After that incident, he became more vibrant everyday. I can't believe he can smile sincerely everyday." She paused as she took a glance at Joshua.
"I'm.. so sorry to see him in a bad condition. I hope Madam can stay strong." Kevin said in a sad tone as he looked at the mother which was looking at her son.
"It's alright. I'm used to it." The woman said weakly and smiled at Kevin.
The little boy crashed on Lisa's lap. The boy looked at the man which was lying on a bed and asked, "Is he sleeping?" Lisa's face twitched when she heard what her child said.
She picked him up and put him on her lap. "Yes. He is. And he will wake up soon." She whispered and pecked her son's cheek.
"His name is Thomas. He's quite energetic as you can see, madam." Kevin said softly and gestured his hand towards the boy.
"I'm a tiger~ roarr~" The boy roared while acting like his hands as claws.
The woman chuckled and wiped the tears that formed at the corner of her eyes. "Thank you for coming. And lighten up the gloomy atmosphere in this room." she said softly, making the spouses felt slightly sad but at the same time happy to lighten up the mood.
They brought some fruits and gave it to her. She smiled and thanked them. The spouses waved their hands as they left the room. His mother stayed silent, as the heart monitor's beeping sound echoed in the silent room.
