He laid beside her.
His arms enclosed her body as her back rested against his bare torso. Their legs tangled with each other under the covers of the red sheet.
Both were wide awake.
And it was almost time for sunrise to return again.
Just like before, time seemed to pass by faster when they were together.
"I have to go," she whispered, just enough to let him hear.
Even though she wanted to stay, the nature of her existence wouldn't let her.
"Stay with me for a little longer..."
He sounded hesitant to let go of her.
Lucy laughed softly.
They both knew that was not meant to be.
"The sea can't be without its mistress for long."
Lucy started to lift herself from the covers, from the bed. His arms loosened their latch on her.
She slid her legs down the mattress and stood up, letting his eyes see her entirety in the process.
Not after a second longer, he was standing behind her.
His fingers traced her long hair, until he reached the very tip of it.
"Don't go, don't leave me."
Natsu whispered, his breath travelling over her head.
She turned to face him.
"Just wait until the sun sets again," Lucy said smiling, "And I will return to you."
But instead of letting her leave, he trapped her again in his arms.
"I have decided..."
He started.
That's right, he still had a wish to make.
"I want you to grant me that one wish now."
She had not forgotten about that.
"Are you certain you're ready?" Lucy looked deeper into his determined eyes, "There will only be one wish. Nothing more."
He continued to stare.
And she understood very well that he wasn't going to change his mind any time soon.
"Alright, then. What is it that you wish the most?"
After a long pause of silence where only the sounds of their breathing were being exchanged, he finally opened his mouth.
His voice unwavering and words steady when he spoke.
"I wish that you'll be able to be with me for a day."
Her eyes widened at his words, not that it was unsatisfying to hear. But partly because she thought he'd agree in becoming immortal and living endlessly with her.
"Just for a day, if not forever..." he continued, "A day wherein you can see the sunrise with me and feel like a mortal without any power. Only when sunset comes shall you become a goddess again."
Lucy just kept looking at him, thinking that he must have thought his words carefully.
A smile then plastered on her face as her eyes moistened with water.
This, she can do.
"A day it is, then," she agreed, "Your wish is granted."
With that, she closed her eyes.
