Chapter One
I'm sitting on my bed, packing up my clothes when I heard Dein's voice from down stairs.
"Dana, are you done packing?" His voice was from the kitchen.
"Almost!" I shouted back as I place the last piece of clothe left on my bed.
Well, looks like I won't be seeing Birchwood from now on. Just like the rest of those places we used to live in.
I jumped off my bed and picked up my back pack. The only thing left in my room was my creaky bed and dilapidated wardrobe. All of my stuff are already been brought down stairs.
I made my way to the door. But as I laid hands on the knob, I glanced back on the room that have been my own kind of safe haven for the past year.
I knew this year was too good to be true. I knew the happiness it brought was only temporary. It always is.
I took a deep breath and turned my back, closing the door.
I made my way down stairs and saw Dein standing in the front porch, obviously waiting for me.
"Are you done?" He asked as he played with his keys in his left index finger.
"Yeah, this is the last one." As said and pointed on the bag behind my back.
"Good." He said and turned his back on me. He started walking towards the car.
"Wait, aren't you going to lock the doors?" I asked and followed him as soon as I realized that he already loaded all my stuff on the car.
"Nah. The estate agent will be here soon anyway. That'll be his job now." He replied as he got into the car.
Again, I glanced back on the house. It isn't small, but it's not huge either. It has two bedrooms, a small living room, a small kitchen, and a small porch over looking the front garden. It isn't much but I'm sure that of all the houses I've lived in from the past seventeen years of my life, this will be the one I will miss the most.
"Dana, are you coming or not?" I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard Dein. I quickly made my way towards the car and hopped in.
I buckled my seat belt and when every thing was set, Dein revved the engine. I glanced at the house one last time, and then Dein started driving away.
I felt my eyes getting heavy. I let out a yawn and started to rub my eyes. I must have been exhausted from all those packing.
"Are you tired?" Dein asked. He must've noticed.
I only hummed as a response as I felt another yawn coming.
"It's okay. You can sleep. It's gonna be a long trip." He said and with I decided that I'm not gonna be told twice. I lowered my seat and shuffled to get comfortable and soon after, drifted into sleep.

I was woken up when we've run over a street bumper. I shot Dein a glare and he apologized sheepishly. Looks like he did it on purpose. I glanced at my phone and it's been exactly five hours since we've left Birchwood. I stared out the window of Dein's car and watched as the trees line up perfectly in the right side of the old, concrete road. The typical humid atmosphere and the pale ray of sunshine seeping through the thick leaves of trees were replaced by a frosty gale and dancing snowflakes, floating in mid-air. I reached for my backpack on the backseat and took out my jacket. I covered myself nice and cozy before staring out of the window again. Look like it will be cold for the next few days.
We've been travelling for hours already but actually, I have no idea where we are heading. So far, from the look of the place, it's obvious that it is fairly far from civilization. The town is bordered with tall, thick trees and no sign of modernization was apparent within the locality. We've barely come across another travelling car and so far, I've only seen three houses.
