wattpad cliches i hate

i. "I'M NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS."
he could walk through walls, disappear, and fly,
he was much more unique than the other guys.
and it was then that he knew what he had to do,
he had to stop all the ghosts that were comin' through,

ii. "I HAD ALL THE POWERS"
when everyone else in the book has like one weak power like mind reading but ur bitch mc can control water, has telekinesis, healing, weather and someone through half the book develops other powers to save the world when john can like flick a penny with his mind

INSTEAD:
— make ur oc just as good as everyone else!
— ur oc's friend has telekinesis but ur oc can talk to animals. making your oc less powerful then a side mc is always intriguing

iii. GIRLS ONLY!
hey, female writers of wp- i know writing girls is more in your comfort zone, but please write other genders! their are very little boy oc fics, and literally NO nonbinary oc fics.

INSTEAD:
— for the love of god get some good boys in here
- genderfluid people
— nonbinary!! please please please

iv. UNIQUE APPEARANCE
— gold eyes
— neon hair
— BRIGHT BLUE FUCKING ICE COLD ANARTICA DAGGER SHARP EYES THEY CHANGE COLOUR BITCH
but the oc is still considered normal when any of these things would be considered abnormalities of science

INSTEAD:
— eyes that look like they change colour in sunlight but don't
— olive eyes! they are so pretty and never used
— caramel hair is gorgeous!

v. SIDE LESBIAN CHARACTER W NO BACKSTORY
ocs bff is a butch lesbian that fucks a lot of people and has no backstory. boring. is so bland not even a whole jar of paprika can spice her up

INSTEAD:
— lesbian pal that's super shy and sweet and has a separate arc so she seems less one dimensional

— disaster bi friend

— CHAOTIC TRANS FRIEND

vi. GOOD GIRL BAD BIY AND VICE VERSA
it's so annoying! please! stop pairing good girls and bad boys. they're always cliche and the girl is always sub and the guy can get scary dom. bad boy x bad girl is also overused

INSTEAD:

— two goodies fall for each other

— artsy boy x athletic girl. imagine girl oc coming back and seeing her cute bf drawing something adorable

— bullied x volunteer at nurses office. kissing their partners bruises and threatening to fight whoever hurt them

— girl x girl or boy x boy also need to stop using these cliches!

vii. BULLY X VICTIM
my longest sigh,,,, you demons really need to stop. i HATE this one so much. bullying isn't as stupid as y'all portray it. it can cause depression, violent tendencies and suicidal thoughts.
i can assure you if you gave a bullied kid a map to their bullies house and could affirm the bully was defenseless the victim would not snog the bully. bullying can have so many psychical and mental repercussions. it's so disgusting you can fetish it.

INSTEAD:
— just? don't? write? it???

viii. LGBT STEREOTYPES
including
- gay friend only likes pink and fashion
- lesbian friend is sporty and bunch and doesn't have feelings
- bisexual girls are ditzy and confused about their sexuality

INSTEAD:
— chaotic good trans

— disaster marvel comics fan genderfluid

— STOP MAKING LOUD NOISES OR I KILL YOU bisexual

— free hugs lesbian

ix. COMING OUT
coming out isn't fun, no matter where you live. there's always that one (or more) asshole(s) who you are afraid will make you life miserable. you can't just shot IM GAY and everything's fine

INSTEAD:
— a good arc showing the challenges of coming out

— parents are okay with people being gay but when their own kid is they aren't

— accepting parents, not accepting friends

— they come out to someone at the same time that person is going to come out to them

x. UNBREAKABLE (THEY ALIVE, DAMMIT!)
jump off a building with no powers? YOU ARE NOT GUCCI, BITCH. YOUR BONES WILL COLLAPSE AND YOUR KNEES WILL FUCKING SNAP. walking through fire? WELCOME TO THE TOASTER LIFE, CUNT. YOUR SKIN IS GONE. YOU ARE NOT OKAY.

INSTEAD:
— uhhh bad example but when newt tried to kill him self by jumping, he gave himself a limp. his actions had consequences

— oc is a gucci bitch but having to go through a burning building has them have a panic attach whenever they smell smoke or see fire

— in cIeopatras story, oc gets attacked by a monster, and loses her leg! this is realistic, instead of walking off markless!

— having your arm twisted the wrong way (a move done mostly by bullies to cause harm) can break it for life, those kinds of bones aren't supposed to go that way

xi. PERSONALITY? DON'T KNOW HER
good girl gone bad. sassy good girl. bullied meek kid. sassy daredevil. overrated. boring. out.

INSTEAD:
— happy, loving characters are a rare breed! the oc that would tell u that everyone loves u and give u flowers when you've never met them before

— serious ocs! ocs that don't laugh at jokes and always focus on the task at hand.

— the oc that struggles with mental illness pretty heavily, and tries best to not let it effect their life

— narcissistic ocs that always think shit is about them. even the readers might hate them. but there are a lot of people with big egos, and not all of them are bad, depending on how you write them
