Chapter 3 Skeleton and the Un-dead

“Hello Cuty,” a crackling middle-aged woman’s voice came out of the thing that stood in the doorway. It was impossible, it had to be. “Where did you come from,” it started walking towards him. He stood and went around the bed to get away. “What’s the matter boy?” it asked bringing one of tough’s old style girly cigarettes holders to its mouth “never seen a skeleton before?” then it laughed one of toughs ghost buster ghost laughs.

That’s when the girl on the bed woke up and she sat up. Keith did not hesitate; he grabbed the girl and brought her back. She screamed as she fell back into him. She looked up and now Keith did yelled out and jumped up on the bed, not knowing witch scared him more, the blue haired girl with the half skeleton face, or the skeleton in the fedora.

“I think you scared him Jun baby,” and she repeated the same ghost buster laugh, and her jaw rattled up and down. Keith could not handle it anymore and everything went black.

“I think he fainted,” Juniper said, standing up from the floor. She smoothed out her night gown, with both her left normal hand and her right skeleton hand. She then looked over the boy who was now laying in what seemed like a very uncomfortable position on her bed. “What should we do?”

Doll took a puff out of her cigarette holder then gracefully walked over to the bed. Most her face was hidden under her red and orange fedora. “I was just having fun with the boy, he didn’t need to pass out on us,” the skeleton laughed again. “Dale go get Martin,” Doll ordered and a shadow on the wall moved and left the room.

“I do so hope he will be alright,” the half skeleton girl said. She found the boy quite attractive and would love to make friends with him. While Dale was retrieving Martin, Juniper readjusted the human into a more comfortable position. His brown skin reminded him of the pirate who was the only one who had skin that was not white or gray. “Do you think he is a pirate like Gabriel?”

Doll laughed her signature laugh, “No this boy is a mix between a European and an Indian, Jun Baby.”

“What’s an Indian?”

Before Doll could answer the door opened and Junipers older sister walked in. her hair was several shades darker then Juniper and her eyes stood out more. She also had more skin on her face and body, but her skin was covered in purplish splotches.

“Jasmin baby how nice it is for you to join us,” Doll took another puff from her cigarette holder. Jasmin sneered at the skeleton dressed in red and orange and walked over to the bed. “He doesn’t look like an un-dead to me.”

“I don’t think he is,” the younger sister said.

“Then what is he?”

“He’s what you used to be,” Doll explained.

The rest of the lips Jasmin had pulled up into a smile. “A human.”

Keith heard the voices above him and he opened his eyes to see two part skeletons over him. He yelled out again and tried to back away but ran into the head board of the bed.

“Calm down human baby,” the same ruff voice from earlier said and Keith looked over to see the same full skeleton. “We aren’t going to hurt you.” Then the thing looked over to a darker blue haired half skeleton “Yet.”

“I’m Juniper,” the light blue haired one said and directed herself in front of him. Keith tried to calm down, this was only a dream so it is not like they could hurt him.

“What are you,” he asked, his throat feeling very dry.

“Jasmin and I,” she pointed her bony hand at the other half skeleton, “call are selves un-dead. There’s another who is called Gabriel, he used to be a pirate.” She continued on happily then adjusted her position so now she was supporting herself with the bone hand and pointing with her left hand that had skin on it, “That’s Doll, she’s just a skeleton, there’s also Shelly and Jones, all three of them used to be in a traveling caravan till they ended up hear. There’s also Joey, Martin, and Bobby who are gargoyles, and there’s also Joda, he is a reptilian human, oh and there’s Bebe, we don’t know if that is her real name or not, but that’s what we call her, she’s a reaper, and then there’s Dale, he’s a shadow, and now there’s you and your not un-dead so your completely alive and your human.”

Keith’s head was swimming with all the words the “un-dead” girl said. “Don’t worry,” the other un-dead girl cut in, “it gets less confusing as time goes on.” Unlike the other one she had both her eyes witch made him feel uneasy, because he felt like they had alternative motives. She only had the tip of a bottom and top lip on her left side and the rest was bone all the way down to her collar bone wear her skin came done in a v shape like a shirt. But her skin was covered in bruise like spots covering her face shoulders and arms. He couldn’t see the rest of her because she was covered with a dress.

Keith backed away from her, because she scared him more than the other undead girl, who only had one eye and more of a mouth. She had a chunck of skin missing from her right side of her face that left most of her jaw and right eye socket only bone. She wore a pink night gown on but there wear as a big whole on her left side wear he could see the bottom of her rib cage, and her right hand had no skin on it, he had suspicion that neither did her right arm, but it was covered by sleeves. Her left eye though showed joy and innocence that he somehow felt more at ease with.

“What is your name?” Juniper asked with her not so little kid but not a woman’s voice asked.

“Keith.”

“Well Keith baby,” the full skeleton said “Welcome to the place of no return.” She did that creepy laugh again then left the room, her hips swinging even though she was just bone.
