The smell of sweat permeated the air and it didn't matter how many times Nelly cleaned the gym with a rag soaked in soap and opened the windows, the scent just sticked. Alexis' nose scrunched for the thousandth time as she waited for her father in his office. He was meant to return on that day after bringing along some of the losers, as Alexis called them, from the smelly gym, with the hopes of getting them a place at the WWE Performance Center. While she swiveled in her dad's office chair to fight the boredom, her brother Bobby Roode played with his gaming computer being his only wish that his father brings him a new game upon return.

Hard steps on the metal staircase resonated outside followed by booming laughter. The door opened and Alexis' father walked inside.

"Dad! You took long. I was about to call the police," she said while kissing him on his cheek.

"Nonsense. I'm beaten! What a horrible flight! Delays and everything you can imagine that can go wrong. But all three got accepted and I brought back a surprise. Come inside here buddy, no one will bite you."

Alexis expected a dog to come inside, but instead a very tall boy, with chubby cheeks and long limbs who must have been around her age stumbled inside.

"Where did you find him?" Nelly examined the boy in a way that would make anyone think she wanted to scrub him with her rag.

"I was walking in the city and heard shouts and groans. I saw a bloody kid running out of an alley. This one here," he patted the boy hard on the back, making him lose his balance. "Took on three boys by himself," Alexi's father chuckled.

"What's your name?" Alexis asked him.

The mumble that came out of his mouth was impossible to understand.

"Name's Adam Scherr and he's eighteen. He's got no family, fresh out of the fostering system. He is rough around the edges, but can do well here," her father smiled warmly at him.

"Got me the game?" Bobby asked lazily. No 'hello, good to have you back'.

"Forgot, buddy. I was busy getting this one some travel documents."

"You bring a fucking homeless guy here and forget the one thing I asked. Helpless and senile..."

Alexis flinched knowing what was to come and the smack on flesh confirmed it. When she opened her eyes, she saw Bobby rubbing his cheek with a shocked look. Adam looked terrified, which was curious when he towered over them all.

"Come on Adam," she held the boy by his arm and brought him outside. Her father's yells escalating with every passing minute.

The boy stared at the kind hand on his arm, then gazed around the gym. "What's this place?"

The men around were making desperate attempts at learning how to wrestle. Alexis found herself surprised at the fact that he could talk properly when in private.

"You are in Wrestling Heights. We are pretty much the pre-training of the pre-training for wrestlers. And so to see, my father wants to make you one of us."

"You wrestle?" He looked up and down at her. "You are tiny. How old are you?"

"Sixteen and I'm damn good at it. Been training since I could walk. Name's Alexis, but one day when I'm a star I'll be called Alexa Bliss," she offered a hand that he shook with hesitation. "No worries. I won't hurt you."

Adam gave her a small smile and Alexis went on showing him the place and introducing him to people. At the end of the day, when Alexis' father announced that Adam was to live with them, she felt excited at the idea while her brother looked annoyed.
