Chapter 45

Things were not okay. Nothing was okay. The Temple was gone. The Republic had taken over, but it was not okay because the Republic was also the Separatists. Somehow. And now they were alone- a Jedi Knight, a Padawan, two initiates, and one clone- on a ship that would easily get them discovered. This was not okay.

After a few moments in which Ahsoka was so high on adrenaline that she could not think, she managed to gasp out one intelligible thought.

"Obi-Wan and Luminara! What- what happened to them?"

Anakin delved into the force for a moment before resurfacing with a frown.

"I'm fairly certain Obi-Wan's alive and okay. He's definitely not on Coruscant though." He turned back to the controls, keying in a few more items of information and disconnecting everything that would tie them to the Temple.

"Rex? What- what happened to him?"

Cody's voice interrupted any thoughts about the other Jedi and Ahsoka pursed her lips.

"I don't know, Cody. And at this point it's probably better if we figure out why you still have the chip."

"Chip, sir?"

Ahsoka pointed to his head, helmet long discarded to sit on the floor next to his boots.

"Implanted by Senator Palpatine. We only just discovered them last rotation. Rex and a few others went off-world to get them removed and at this point I'm not sure where they are." Anakin responded, turning away from the ship's controls and stepping to wrap his arms around Ahsoka. The togruta relaxed a bit from her jittery movements, turning to hug him back. He bent down to press a kiss to her lips, content with the feeling of their bond connecting again, before he heard the sounds of gagging.

It was then he remembered that there was an immature boy on the ship.

Anakin looked up to see the face of a little boy who was in the process of fake-gagging before he stopped in favor of the words, "No PDA!" [For those of you not in the USA, as I'm not sure other countries use this acronym, it stands for Public Displays of Affection.]

The Jedi Knight growled a little and cuffed the boy's ears lightly, sending Katooni into a fit of giggles. Petro then crossed his arms, face shaped into a pout.

"Sulking is not becoming of a Jedi, young Petro," Anakin admonished playfully, Cody slipping his helmet back on to hide his laughter. Ahsoka used the force to gently push the helmet back to the chair he was sitting on.

"You don't need to be so uptight, Cody. I'm fairly certain that we have completely breeched protocol at this point." The togruta gestured to the ship around them before peeling Anakin's arms off of her. He frowned a little and she shoved him away.

"I need to use the 'fresher, Anakin." Realization dawned on his face and he shuffled away a bit, a little blush on his face. "Oh, grow up, Master. Katooni, come with me. We need to see if this ship has any disguises on it."

"Okay, Padawan Tano."

"Ahsoka is just fine, Katooni."

"Okay, Pad- Ahsoka."

The boys were left watching as the girls exited the room, and Petro shuffled away from Anakin.

"Not so fast, you little-"

"HELP!" Cody scooped up the boy, keeping him hostage in the room before Anakin grabbed him and pulled him over to the consul.

"I need you to get in the vents and pull the filter out. They didn't get through cleaning with this ship." The boy gaped for a second before frowning and pulling off the vent cover.

"Fine, Master Skyfaller."

With that, he escaped into the vents.

"Hey!"

Maybe they would be okay after all.
