"all im saying is that even though i love the thought of you bringing me out tonight and im totally up to go with, im just not gonna fit in at all-"

"gemmie, you're gonna fit in just fine!" jayson laughed, pulling the smaller girl in for a hug, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "no te preocupes, mi vida. i'll be with you the whole time."

"yeah, but-"

"no buts, baby. all you have to do is dance to the music or sit and have a good time. then we'll go to one of the after parties and then we go home. c'mon, this is the first time you're seeing me work outside the studio. you're gonna have an amazing time, i promise."

ruby couldn't help but grin once she saw the excitement in her boyfriend's eyes. he'd been asking her for weeks if she was gonna go to his show, the same answer being a quiet "baby, im not sure." but now, there was no stopping her head from nodding.
"okay, i'll go, you dork," she said, erupting into a small fit of laughter as he pressed small kisses all over her face. "but when i say it's time to go, don't think i won't hesitate to snatch the keys, drive home and leave you there if you want to stay longer."

~~

"... and i totally was like 'wow, ling ling, way to, like, ruin my day' once i saw what a shitty job she did to my nails." some random blonde rambled, practically talking ruby's ear off.

it'd been hours since the show started and she was having a good time, despite the fact that she was surrounded by people that either ignored her or pretended to be her friend just to get close to jayson. even the girl who still droned on about her nails had only come up to her an hour ago, and that was after everyone found out who she came with.

it was touch and go for a while, especially when ruby had gotten her sixth drink from random guys who'd watched her when she got up to dance a few times. despite her phone being in her back pocket, it was open and ready for her to order an Uber and go home. the only thing that kept her back was her boyfriend.

watching him in his element, all focused and carefree, seemed to make her happy and proud. but he'd only turned back a couple of times to check up on her and to blow the occasional kiss. not even ruby had the audacity to go up and bother him when he was out on stage, so she stood in the VIP section and collected random drinks from waiters, where she was more than happy to give her new cosmetically challenged 'friend' the various alcohols.

"sweetie, you want a ride to the party?" the blonde asked, pulling ruby back into reality. as she looked around, she noticed that the music had stopped and everyone was shuffling off to what was no doubt one of the after parties. "i saw some guys walk off with the dj and i may have heard which party they were planning on going to- now, i don't know whatcha think, rebecca? you down to party some more?"

ruby wanted to smack the girl so much for calling her rebecca for what had to be the millionth time. but she had kept her company for most of the night and candy or bambi or dandy or whatever her name is had begun to be pretty cool. but still, all she really wanted to do was go home, take a shower and fall asleep.

so when she suddenly found herself in candi's car, she had no idea why she closed the Uber app and instead sent a text to jayson, telling him which after party she was being dragged off to.

~~

"reb- sorry, sorry! ruby, you've been checking your phone every five minutes since we got here! come on, let's go dance and see if we can find me a man to take home!" said kandi with a k, ruby found that out on the very short yet risky drive to the party. after she ran the seventh consecutive red light, ruby thought to herself, ' well, if im gonna die, i might as well find out her name now.
