Chapter 3

Ian's POV

Once the girl had finished playing she thanked the crowd. As she walked off stage, the last thing she said was

"Come find me by the merch tables because I'll be very lonely sitting there. Look for the sign that says Mel on it." She took a tiny little bow, waved to the crowd and started to walk off.

So I now knew her name was Mel. The name seemed familiar but it was a common-ish name so I guess that was why. Before she could get off stage Brett called out to me. I hesitated, I had wanted to talk to her but I figured I would see her again later. I walked towards Brett, throwing one last glance over my shoulder.

Mel's POV

This crowd was amazing. Even as I walked off they were cheering, it was very motivating. They made me feel like this was something I could actually do. I slung my guitar off my shoulder. I was disappointed that Ian wasn't there but I think Brett had dragged him off to help unload merch or something. Which was something I needed to do. I walked over to the rows of merch and signing tables.

The tables were set up in alphabetical order just to make it simple for everyone. I walked past table after table until I got to the end of the first row. My table was set up right next to my van, which made everything a lot simpler. I looked over at the table next to me and couldn't believe my eye. The table next to mine belonged to MARIANAS TRENCH! This means that I would see them and maybe get to meet them.

I unlocked the back of my van and grabbed the lone box full of CD's. It was full of copies of my EP, Synthetic Sunshine. It was a pathetic title but it had been a last minute decision made way past a normal bedtime.

I turned around with the box and was surprised to see someone standing there.

"Sunglasses guy!"

"Hey there" He said tucking his sunglasses into his shirt pocket.

"Well now that the sunglasses are gone what do I call you?"

"My name is Adam, so I guess that's an acceptable thing to call me." He smiled as he said that.

"I guess Adam is an acceptable name. So Adam, you a local?"

"Yeah, I do concert reviews and occasional photography. Which means I get paid to go to concerts and take pretty pictures, which is pretty awesome."

"Living the dream I see."

"Actually 'the dream' is to drive an ice cream truck around the world but I guess this is good enough."

I laughed at his humour. He was a funny guy. "So Adam, I have to thank you because I would've walked off that stage and everyone there would've had no idea who I was."

"Hey it's no problem Mel, but how about you thank me by letting me do a quick interview with you to go along with my review of your performance."

"Ack, I'm not very good at serious interviews, I'll let you know that much."

"Most of the people I interview aren't very good at being serious, so don't worry about it."

"Alright. Here let's sit down." I patted the back edge of my van and took a seat. Adam walked around the table and sat next to me. He pulled a camera out of a bag  that he had slung around his shoulder, which I hadn't noticed. I wasn't good on camera either but if I pretended that I was just talking to Adam it should be fine.

"So look into the camera and introduce yourself and then I'll ask you some routine questions, okay?"

I nodded and looked at the camera. "Hey my name is Melissa Beaudette, but you should call me Mel if you actually want me to respond."
