Pounding Hearts: Ruby

Warnings: Cheating dirt bag of an ex boyfriend

Spoilers: None 

Prompt: "Your heart is pounding" 

Other: You are shorter than Ruby in this one. Not by much.

   It was your boyfriend, Ivan's, birthday today. You had planned to surprise him with his favorite cake flavor. Currently you were walking up the steps of his house, cake in hand. You opened the door and walked inside. 

   "Ivan?" You called out, glancing around the room.  

    You went into the kitchen and placed the cake on the counter. Suddenly you heard a loud bang from upstairs. Worried about his safety you ran up the steps. Finding the room you thought it came from and throwing the door open. Only to be shocked and heart broken at what you saw. Ivan had some girl against the wall. It looked like he was sucking her face off. He was too absorbed in the girl that he didn't even notice you.

    "Ivan?! W-what.. what are you doing?" You croaked, already feeling the tears staining your cheeks.

        "(Y-Y/N)!  Mi amor! I didn't know you were coming over." He stuttered out, letting go of the girl and turning to you. "(Y/n.. It isn't what it looks like! Okay.. well it was but uh.. I'm so sorry it-"

You cut him off by bolting out of the room, and out of his house. You broke down as you ran to your best friend's house. Ruby may not be the best at girl stuff and feelings, but he did give the best hugs. 

  You ran and ran until you got to his house, slowing down to a walk as you made your way to his door. You lightly knocked as the tears kept falling and falling. Wiping a few away you waited for an answer. The door opened to reveal Ruby, his face lit up when he saw you, until he noticed the tears.

    "(Y/n)? What happened? Are you okay? Did someone hurt you? What am I supposed to do?" He shot a million questions at you, he was already panicking. You lightly shook your head, walked in, closed the door, and opened your arms. He pulled you into a tight embrace, rubbing circles on your back. 

    "He cheat-cheated on me.." You croaked out as another round of sobs racked your body.

     "Sh.. he doesn't deserve someone as amazing as you are." Ruby pulled away looked into your (e/c) eyes. "You are so amazing, princessa." You nodded, sniffling and leaning your head on his chest. You could hear his heart beat, it was calming, until it started to beat faster and faster.

"Your heart is pounding." You mumbled into his tear stained shirt. He laughed lightly, squeezing you tighter. 

"Uh..y-yeah.." he quietly said into your hair. You sat in a comfortable silence after that, just enjoying each others company. 

After a while, you slowly pulled away and looked at him. He stared back at you, you could have sworn you saw him glance at your lips.. you must be imagining things, right? He slowly started leaning in, you leaned in and closed the space between you. You felt sparks, fireworks, as your lips connected. The kiss was slow, but passionate.You slowly pulled away as he leaned his forehead on yours. Right then and there it hit you in the face like a ton of bricks. You were head over heels for this boy. 

    "Wow.." you breathed out "that was.."  

    "Amazing." He finished, smiling softly.

   "Yeah.."

"Ruby..I think I'm in love with you.." you whispered looking down. He put his finger on your chin and lifted your head up. He lightly kissed you again, before taking a breath. 

"I'm in love with you" He smiled and pulled you into another hug.
