| CHAPTER TWO
Jungkook wakes up to his alarm clock vibrating madly on his side table, the vibrations feeling like when driving on an old road, where it's rough, with bumps and dips in the road. The bunny sits up, shutting it off and scratching the back of his head, his bed hair causes his fingers to be caught in a range of different knots. Jungkook stretches up, breathing in the crisp early morning air, feeling all warm and sleepy.
Jungkook look out the window, seeing the beautiful golden honey light, pour into his room. Outside his room is a massive old tree, it has been here for much longer than him or the house Jungkook lives in, it is said that the tree was as old as the city. In the tree sits a few hummingbirds, living out their daily lives. Jungkook smiles softly at the sight; wanting to take a closer look, he gets up.
Jungkook's warm feet hit the cold, harsh, wooden floor and he walks over to his window, opening it, breathing in the fresh and cool morning air, looking longingly out at the birds in the tree. Often, Jungkook wishes he could have been born as a bird, or a different animal, just so he would be able to go through life, without having to worry about deadlines or school.
The hummingbird was so close, Jungkook feels like that, if he reaches out, he could touch it, feel the warmth that radiates of the bird, and the gentle, continuous hum of the bird's busy body. Jungkook turns his ear toward the bird, as if reaching for something, that is not tangible, but still reaching, just in hopes, that maybe, it could be.
Nothing.
Jungkook couldn't hear anything, as usual, the never ending silent bliss.
He jumps when he feels a cold hand, on his shoulder, Jungkook spins around at the speed of light, his nerves instantaneously calming, once seeing the person.
"The hummingbird's noise it a series of rapid, short chirps," Jungkook's mother, Hye-sun signs to him, he nod smiling, looking back out to the bird, wondering what it would be like, if he could hear again.
Jungkook was born being hard of hearing, and had to wear a hearing aid up until he was twelve, that's when Jungkook fully lost all hearing. Hye-sun would always try her best to explain to Jungkook, what the old and forgotten sounds, sound like. She is trying, and Jungkook appreciates it, but he can admit it's not the same as before. When he could clearly identify the sound of rushing, lively water, from the loud, satisfying crunch, of autumn leaves under his boot.
"I'm going to get ready now."
"Okay Jungkook, come down for breakfast," Jungkook gives an assertive nod, waving to
Hye-sun as she leaves the warm bedroom room.
