As the ship docked, a rainbow spread across the sky. Everyone began to file off of the ship, all wondering how on earth they had made it to the Americas in one piece. Last off the ship were Ling and Mayumi, and to their amazement, the Sensei and all the other ninjas of the Shadow Clan were waiting for them.
“Congratulations, Ninja Ling and Ninja Mayumi, on completing your mission,” Sensei said.
“But, Sensei,” replied Mayumi, “we haven’t retrieved the all-powerful ninja star yet. How can we have completed our quest if we haven’t even gotten what you requested yet?”
“The all-powerful ninja star does not exist, young student. You were sent on this journey with Ling in the hopes that you would gain something even more powerful, something that cannot be broken no matter how sharp the ninja star. You have gained friendship, and that is all I could ever ask of you two. Congratulations, Ling and Mayumi, on completing your journey. I think you both have earned this.”
All the ninjas gasped as Sensei pulled out two freshly made Sensei hats and uniforms.
“What are these for?” Asked Ling, astonished.
“These are for you two. Congratulations Ninja Ling and Ninja Mayumi! You two are the new Senseis of the Shadow Clan! You’ve earned it.”
“Thank you so much, Sensei!” Mayumi and Ling said in unison.
“I am no longer a Sensei, just a teacher. You two are the Senseis of the Shadow Clan.”
At once, all the ninjas, including Sensei, got down on one knee, and said, “Ninja bow.”
“Ninja bow,” Ling and Mayumi replied.
And with that, the Ninjas of the Shadow Clan set off down the beach.
As the sun set overhead, Ling said to Mayumi, “The ape did it huh? Did the ape from the forest track us down and attack the ship?”
Mayumi laughed, “Closer, but still no, Ling. I’ll tell you about it on our way home, friend.”
“That’s fine with me, friend!”
