I stare out the foggy window, watching the rolling green hills pass by, fantasizing about the familiar feeling of lush grass under me. It starts to drizzel as we make our way down the foreign road, watching for the number 61 on a mailbox.

"Hopefully this town will accept us." My mom strangles out a laugh, worry lines evident on her forehead.

"Don't worry, mom, we'll be ok." She turns to me, greying hair frizzed from stress and I force a smile. Honestly, I'm scared. My eyes say, but I'm too afraid to admit. I have to keep myself together, stay strong for mom and Harper.

"Oh, please mom, she's lying." Harper says grimly, making the car swerve as my mom lets out a shaky breath.

I wanna cry. I wanna turn around and scream at her. Why does she always do this?

"Harper..." I close my eyes and try to compose myself, running a hand through my thick, black hair. "L-Let's just try and start over."

"Why? So we can be the freaks of another town? I hate you, Taylor. Your the reason this is happening to us!"

My mom slams the brake, almost crashing into one of the many trees surrounding the small brick house.

Breath, Taylor...

"We're here." I choke out, staring at the number 61, not wanting to look at my mother's sad doe-like eyes.

'Cause it brakes my heart everytime.
