~June 5, 1988~{Amani is eight]
"See, I told you we had peacocks, Amani!" The now eight year old Draco called out as he drug the girl through all the guest who were standing around the expansive back-yard garden. The garden took up the whole yard, from the back patio to the large, wrought iron gate surrounding the whole house. It made a small maze that came up to an adult's waist. The follows consisted of all colors ranging from whites to reds and anything in between. There were a few trees, which held the greenest leaves and cast shade on the benches underneath them. There was a water stone water fountain in the middle of the garden, that contained coy fish of all different colors.
Draco continued to push past the guests that were there in celebration of him turning eight. They stopped right infront of one the peacocks and Draco pointed at it, "see, you didn't believe me."
Amani let out a giggle, her eyes watching as the peacock strutted around in front of them, "alright, you have peacocks, come on let's go eat some cake!"
Amani and Draco ran past her brother and mother laughing. Her father wasn't there because he was Muggleborn and it wouldn't turn out good for him to make an appearance. Her father didn't come around a lot lately. He was a Muggleborn and after they had Amani, it was decided he shouldn't come around often. Kamal, who had been seven at the time didn't understand what was going on, but when he got older he came to terms with it and excepted what his mother had did. Mrs. Mihtar still held the graces of the other purebloods because of Narcissa had stood up for her.
They finally reached the cake, which had already been cut and set out on plates for people to grab. They both grabbed a piece and Amani turned towards Draco, "Will be friends forever, right?"
"Forever, no matter what."
~1995~[Amani is 15]
Amani made her way into the Great Hall, where everyone was currently eating dinner. When she sat down near the end of the table, the other Sytherins sitting there scooted down, leaving her to sit by herself. It had been like this ever since she her first year. She had been sorted into Slytherin, but she hadn't acted like any of them. She had been friendly and nice to everyone, and had even befriended a group of Gryffindors. And the group she had managed to befriend were the worst enemies of the Slytherins, The Golden Trio; Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Harry Potter.
Making those three friendships had ripped apart one friendship, of which she cherished more than anything. Just as she thought of the boy she looked down the table to catch him staring at her. She turned away quickly, a blush forming on her pale skin. Her brown eyes focused on the wooden table. Her thoughts were racing. Are they talking about me? Why else would he be looking at me? he hasn't talked to me in years...So much for friends forever.
Amani got like this every time she thought about the boy. They may not be friends anymore, but she had developed a crush on the him, which made things worse for Amani. If only she could get into the boy's mind and see what he was thinking. Did he still like her? Did he want to be her friend, or maybe more?
