Chapter 2. The Meeting of a New Friend

(Nova POV)

My first class of the day english "Oh joy" I say sarcastically giggling lightly earning a couple of looks from kids behind me "What are you looking at haven't you ever seen some one laugh."

I say as I see John open his annoying mouth and start talking "We are looking at you NOLA" he sings out horribly.

Thankfully I'm saved from hearing anymore of his terribly off-key voice as the bell rings signaling the start of class.

As I sit down in my seat waiting for the teacher to arrive I see Mindy Walker another friend of mine sit in the seat next too me "Good morning Mindy" I say to her lightly "Good morning Nova" she says softly.

See Mindy is very shy and without me and merry she probably wouldn't have any friends.

As the class settles down in their seats the door opens and in walks the teacher or should I say substitute teacher "Great I say under my breath only too hear Mindy giggle in response.

"Settle down class" The teacher says as he begins to drone on and on about unimportant things well in my mind at least anyways.

Finally after an hour of mindless talk and the assignment had been set the bell finally rung signaling class was over.

"About time" I say out loud too Mindy while stretching "Well onward to the next class " I say as I split from Mindy.

"Lovely" I say as I realise my next class is math -sighing- I accept my fate.

Half way through the class the door opens a second time revealing a guy I had never seen before as he walked further into the classroom I couldn't help but notice all the tattoo's and piercings he had.

I was broken out of my trance by the teacher "This is Alexander Vanity and as of today he is a new student so please welcome him into the school class" the teacher said.

I noticed him tense up when she called him by his full name 'so' I thought 'he doesn't like to be called Alexander.'

I was broken out of my thought by the teacher calling my name "Alexander you can sit in the empty seat next too Nola" "Nola please raise your hand so he knows where to sit."

I quickly raise my hand so he knows where I am as he sighs in frustration and mumble out a quick "Alex" before making his way too the empty seat.

By the time he sits down class is almost over so the teacher lets us out of class without an assignment.

Since there's 20 minutes left before the bell rang I pull out my notebook and start writing poems.

A few minutes later I feel someone watching me so I turn around and sure enough Alex is staring intently at me.

"Um Hi" I say slowly unsure if he'll say anything back to me.

"Hi" he greets lowly in a deep southern accent 'Que internal squealing' I thought "My name is Nola November but my friends call me Nova" I say already knowing what he's going to say.

"My name is Alexander Vanity and I like to be called Alex and as of right now I have no friends nice too meetcha Nova".

"Aw would you like me to be your friend" I ask gently "Sure I would like that" he says beginning to smile.

I smile too glad that I had found another friend then the class bell rings signaling the end of class.

The rest of my classes fly by and soon I find myself running to the lunchroom too meet up with Merry and Mindy hoping to tell them about Alex before anyone else could.

I walk in and see them sitting at our usual table. I quickly join them opening my boxed lunch and begin eating.

I finish and quickly launch into telling them about Alex the new student.

That's when we hear her voice "Aly-poo come sit with me at my table" our own school resident prep Missy Dale.

I look up sharply just in time to see Alex scowl deeply in irritation at the nickname Missy had branded him with mumble something too her and walk towards our table.

He sits down and exhales in annoyance then smiles at me then looks curiously at Merry and Mindy.

"Pardon my manners Alex these are my other friends Merry and Mindy" I say pointing at each one when I said their name.

"Merry and Mindy this is Alex" I say. With the introductions done we sit and chat for the rest of the hour.

Before we realise it the time had flown by and the bell for lunch rang I make plans with Merry and Mindy and invite Alex to hang out with us sometime.

Before trudging my way over to my locker opening it and grabbing a few things shutting it and start heading for the parking lot.

"Thank god schools over" I voice out loud after reaching Merrys car and hoping in it.

Grateful to be going home and happy that I had finally made a new friend Alex.
